John Boehner is the new hero of Republicans everywhere! He lured President Obama into a trap by not responding to his request to address Congress, and then turned him down flat because Wednesday night is a Republican night! After a full day of standing strong (that may be a record...) Obama has agreed to the Republican demand that he move his address back to Thursday night. This is the first time (as far as we can tell) that a President has been told that he cannot address Congress at the time he wishes. (Frankly, if the Democrats had tried that on me, I would have told them where to stick it and if they had not shown up, I would have had an entire speech about their ungovernabilitiesness).
What was not included in the news story but is still a part of the requirements imposed on Obama is that Congressmen from Wisconsin and Louisiana do NOT have to attend because the Saints and Packers are playing (also, anyone playing fantasy football is excused). He is also required to tape record the game and show it after his address in the White House and Michelle must serve popcorn and beer to anyone that wants to watch it. Finally, in order to keep the speech short, we have won the right to edit it however we wish. (it's funny when you out verbs in the middle of a sentence. It him sound stoopid! Ha!).

required to tape record the game
As if...
That was the original deal. Then McConnell moved the goal posts (get it, heh heh) and now the network carrying the speech will show it as a split screen teeny tiny insert into the feed from the game.
The other network will just show the game, period.

It's just as well.
He talks too much per se, and in particular compared to his "middle of the road" proposals. If the administration had made any more of an issue of the date change the reaction Thursday would have been : Is this why they had such a fight?
I'm not sure that these inadequate proposals have necessarily been wrong. Might well have been all he could have gotten passed. But they're not worth provoking a constitutional confrontation.
