A 5-year-old boy found dozens of bags of heroin inside a jacket he had taken to school and showed them to his kindergarten classmates, the school superintendent said Tuesday.

Bridgeport (Conn) Superintendent Paul Vallas said he believes the boy took his stepfather's jacket to school on Monday without knowing the drugs were inside it.

"Children bring to school what they find at home," he said.

Police have told the Connecticut Post the boy took 50 packets of heroin out when it came time for a show-and-tell presentation, but Vallas said the boy only waved the heroin around at his cubicle. Police did not respond to messages seeking comment Tuesday.

The boy who brought the gun was wounded in the foot, another 6-year-old boy was wounded in the leg and a 5-year-old girl was wounded in the foot, Spencer said. The students were either hit by a single bullet and/or fragments, officials said.

The children were taken to Texas Children's Hospital and their parents notified. Houston Independent School District police were investigating how the child obtained the weapon...

The three children were in stable condition and were in good spirits, playing video games this afternoon, said Dr. David deLemos, assistant trauma medical director at Texas Children's.

Jarneshia Broussard, 5, said she was sitting at the same cateteria table as the boy who brought the gun. She was eating a hot dog and beans when she heard a loud noise, she said.

She first thought a light had gone out but then realized this was more serious.

"I knew it was a gun because a gun goes 'pow,' " Jarneshia said. "I got really scared."

RACE VS. CLASS

I already did a blog on Derbyshire.

So did Mac (even though she received ten times my result. Ha!)

So National Review—the penny newspaper established by William F. Buckley--'fired' Derbyshire.

Okay.

I was impressed until I read this:

National Review, which recently severed its relationship with writer John Derbyshire for a column in which he advised parents to teach their children to be wary of blacks, has another contributor who may draw similar scrutiny.

In March, National Review Online contributor Robert Weissberg spoke at the annual conference of the magazine American Renaissance, described as a "white supremacist journal" by the Anti-Defamation League. Reportedly proposing "A Politically Viable Alternative to White Nationalism," Weissberg described to the audience of 150 an "enclave" solution in which zoning laws and other methods could be used to create "Whitopias" in America.

Weissberg, an emeritus professor at the University of Illinois, is a regular contributor to National Review Online, having written 10 posts for its Phi Beta Con blog on education, the most recent coming within the last week.

During his speech at the conference, Weissberg discussed how to keep "Whitopias" white and the positives of "maintaining whiteness," according to the American Renaissance website:

Prof. Weissberg argued that an "80 percent solution" would be one that enforced the "First-World" standards of excellence and hard work that attract and reward whites. He pointed out that there are still many "Whitopias" in America and that there are many ways to keep them white, such as zoning that requires large houses, and a cultural ambiance or classical music and refined demeanor that repels undesirables. This approach to maintaining whiteness has the advantage that people can make a living catering to whites in their enclaves.

Herein lies the problem; at least in my most humble opinion.

We think (at least some of us) that somehow we have sometimes stumbled and sometimes leapt and other times just plain found ourselves in some new Eden.

Oh those battles have already been fought. And 'our' side won.

I recently viewed a recently completed film (that went straight to disc) reexamining the Scopes Trial.

Well my old hero Dennehy ends up as Darrow and that prick on Law & Order (who ran for prez in 2008 for about two weeks) starred as William Jennings Bryan.

Actually the film stays truer to the transcript of the Scopes Trial than Inherit_the_Wind;

although there are echoes of sorts in the old Tracy film that cover the truth of things.

Dayton, Tennessee was a wonderful place to behold according to H. L. Mencken, who expected 'the darkies' to be lined up on curbs cleaning out the gutters.

No final arguments were made following the trial; a trial that excluded any evidence whatsoever regarding the issues at hand.

Scopes later noted that those folks residing in Dayton, Tennessee were the salt of earth.

Bryan (an avowed racist actually) never really testified that the Bible had to be interpreted literally.

In short, nothing was revealed.

Tennessee by the way just passed a Monkey Statute that really has nothing to do with monkeys.

Life is complicated. Otherwise anyone could do it!

My old man was a racist prick whom I believe suffered from post traumatic syndrome as a baby member of the U.S. Forces in Eastern Europe—yeah I found out later we did not have that many forces in Eastern Europe. As an aside I think he shot a Rusky dead in a bar while he was there according to his drunken testimony (before a six year old son).

Dad decided that we must move out of the city because I was becoming too close to some Negro minors (something I was too young to even note) and we all moved (in the middle of the night as we always moved in those days due to a shortage of lease payments) to suburbia.

No Negroes in suburbia in those days due to restrictive covenants (in our state anyway) and due to straight up Jim Crowe in other states.

I recall two dirty words my father would say every single day until he died of alcoholism when I was twelve.

They were: bullshit and nigger.

There I wrote it.

I mean that is what he said. Why cover it up?

Anyway, the dream of the whites in the 50's was to establish white neighborhoods and escape urban violence.

A whitopia was the dream of this generation.

Derbyshire and his unfired compadre Professor Weissberg (Professor, damn!) were simply iterating the iterations of my parent's generation—the post WWII generation.

We all grow up and find out that we have been lied to, for heaven's sake. There aint no Easter Bunny or Santa Claus or Justice!

The North won the Civil War as they sided with humanitarians who eschewed slavery and the South, who embraced slavery and anti-humanitarianism, lost that war.

And we all lived happily ever after.

We forget that states like Illinois made it illegal for a free Negro to cross into its boundaries.

We also learned—at least up here in the Northern States—that we conquered the racist NAZI's in the name of truth, justice and the American Way whilst we sided with the second worst (or first worst?) dictator in the history of all humanity.

I don't care if you read Lillian Hellman, Bernard Shaw or scores of other writers during the first half and then second half of the 20^th century.

There were many, many Americans who ignored the sins of the Russian regime for a long, long time as if they could not admit that they were wrong. Just ask Orwell.

Anyway, we know from Churchill and others that there was indeed an Iron Curtain (and sometimes cement walls) that descended upon Europe for forty years and more following the war. And Bishop Sheen and others were stressing this mess long before WWII ever occurred.

Now, the iron curtain is gone.

And many of our right wing brothers and sisters are really really sad that this curtain/wall is gone. Good and evil must be re-translated into Muslim vs. Christian/Jew or into U.S vs. China (Red) or whatever.

Okay, so that fight is over?

Still, West’s comment clearly states that these members of Congress are also card-carrying members of the Communist Party

Regardless of his lack of grammar, this fellow would bring us back into WWII all over again! He cannot help himself. And neither can Buchanan or a host of other folks you can find on websites all over the place.

You know what I discovered?

Rush Limbaugh is a moderate amongst these believers. He is rather bland as far as right wing fascist NAZI sympathizers. He really is!

The media really did decide to accent the positive and de-legitimatize the negative during the fifties and the sixties and the seventies and....well all the way up to now.

There is no doubt in my mind about all this in the least! So did our primary and secondary education centers.

Whether or not Weissberg gets to continue in his position with the Review or not has nothing to do with nothing as far as I am concerned.

My point (do I ever really have a point?) is that our war in this country has nothing to do with race per se.

We have a fear of class warfare.

Since more poor folks are Black or Hispanic (what the hell does Hispanic or Latanic mean after all?) those in the middle class like my father wished to escape to safer places.

The poor will use weapons in order to equalize their positions.

The poor might better defend themselves with guns and must point their weapons at the one forces that wish to keep them poor.

The police must protect the vendor.

The police must enforce meaningless (in my humble opinion as they say) drug laws—because that is where the money is for the poor.

The police must keep the rival self-appointed police (the gangs) from killing each other or at least arrest and detain those felons.

The police must keep the peace with whatever funds are left after the Walkers and the Kasich's have decided is prudent.

Whitopians note that most prisoners are minorities in this country whether we are speaking about state prisons or Federal prisons.

Whitopians wish that their progeny are safely kept from the imposition of unfair sentences whilst they hope that all those 'real criminals' receive what is just.

Whitopians love to imagine that the Master's Tournament depicts true 'family values' during the 9 hole (three par) tournament and ignore the reality of America.

Whitopians feel that you are what you have earned and should be punished for what you have if you did not earn it without ever defining what 'earn' means.

Whitopians believe that there is good and there is evil and never the twain shall meet.

I understand that is difficult to accept an Alan West or a Justice Thomas or even a Michael Steele.

But that is because the liberals look at Alan West or a Justice Thomas as people who ignore their station in life—that is their membership in a tribe.

Frankly, I see no difference between Alan West and Rush Limbaugh except that Limbaugh is more prudent in his language!

We are dealing with class; not race!

Again, as I have stated over and over again, the Civil Rights Acts of '64 and '65 were more beneficial to the whites than the Blacks!

The repubs in state after state after state are denying the vote to more whites than Blacks!

And if a Georgia Southern Baptist (White) is put in charge of the U.S. Housing Department, the Methodists and the Black Southern Baptists and the Catholics and a host of other religions will go nuts.

No wonder the USSR; understanding the fact that the tribes within its boundaries were in constant religious turmoil, decided that all religions suck.

The USSR had to cope with Muslims against Christians and Jews, Christians against Jews, and everyone hated the Buddhists!

See I got side tracked again.

My point is that there is no absolute truth.

People like Weissburg and Derbyshire and a host of others will never lose their voices.

I will continue to sign the petitions because I wish to send a message to all advertisers that I am sick and tired of racist propaganda that does no one any good.

I will finish with this:

As The Huffington Post reported in February, a study published in the journal "Psychological Science" showed that children who score low on intelligence tests gravitate toward socially conservative political views in adulthood--perhaps because conservative ideologies stress "structure and order" that make it easier to understand a complicated world.

Ouch.

And now there's the new study linking conservative ideologies to "low-effort" thinking.

"People endorse conservative ideology more when they have to give a first or fast response," the study's lead author, University of Arkansas psychologist Dr. Scott Eidelman, said in a written statement released by the university.

Does the finding suggest that conservatives are lazy thinkers?

"Not quite," Dr. Eidelman told The Huffington Post in an email. "Our research shows that low-effort thought promotes political conservatism, not that political conservatives use low-effort thinking."

See, the right will maintain that 'minorities' have an IQ deficiency and the left might maintain that the 'right' might maintain an IQ deficiency.

So what is the difference when we call the NJ governor fat or when Limbaugh say the First Lady has a big butt?

I dunno anymore.

But I 'know' this!

The right would have us believe that race has something to do with all of our ails.

I believe we are dealing with class and class warfare

Alan West would call me a commie as well as Rush and Sean and a host of others.

Frankly, I would rather be called a Commie.
