    BOUM!

La pendule fait tic tac tic tac
Les oiseaux du lac font pic pic pic pic
Glou glou glou font tous les dindons
Et la jolie cloche ding din don
    Mais ...

    Boum
    Quand notre cœur fait Boum
    Tout avec lui dit Boum
    Et c'est l'amour qui s'éveille.
    Boum
    Il chante "love in bloom"
    Au rythme de ce Boum
    Qui redit Boum à l'oreille

There is no single profile that describes the attackers. They come from a variety of ethnic groups, family situations, social groups at school, and levels of academic achievement. Many were part of the mainstream social group and had excellent grades. Most had never been in trouble at school or with the law or acted violently before. A small percentage had previously been diagnosed with mental health problems. The attackers did have some things in common:

    • The attackers were males, 11 to 21, most between 13 and 18

    • Almost all, 98 percent, suffered a loss of some sort before the attack and failed to cope with it well, becoming depressed or suicidal, and thinking of retaliation. The loss could be one of status, relationship, job, or health of the attacker or a loved one.

    • Many attackers had been bullied, or felt injured or persecuted by others. In some cases the bullying was severe, and bullying seems to have been a factor in at least some of the attacks

    • Most attackers had previous access to weapons and had used them before

    • Most of the school shooting attackers were current students at the school, a few were former students

    • Most showed no or few academic or behavioral changes before the attack, or even improved school performance

    • One quarter were known to have abused alcohol or other drugs

    • Over half of the attackers showed an interest in violence through books, movies, video games or, especially, their own creative works, such as stories or poetry

    • Usually the attackers chose a specific target or targets ahead of time.

    • School staff, faculty, or administrators were slightly more likely than fellow students to be chosen as targets

    • The targets were among the victims in about half of the cases

    • Over half of the non-target victims were students.

    • Most attackers had multiple motivations, including: revenge, seeking attention or recognition, trying to fix a perceived problem, or suicide

    Tout a changé depuis hier
Et la rue a des yeux qui regardent aux fenêtres
Y a du lilas et y a des mains tendues
Sur la mer le soleil va paraître

I knew it was a gun because a gun goes 'pow,' " Jarneshia said. "I got really scared."

Car mon amour est plus vif que l'éclair
Plus léger qu'un oiseau qu'une abeille
Et s'il fait Boum s'il se met en colère
Il entraîne avec lui des merveilles.

On Wednesday, the boy stowed the .45-caliber Heckler and Koch pistol at the bottom of his backpack. The safety was off and the gun was cocked.

These are the sad facts of a gun filled society. Good post Richard.

    BOUM!

    Ha

    Hi Momoe!

Keep them grandkids away from guns!

I wonder how long it will be until "R" shows up defending guns… wink

(Guns aren't high on my radar either way, but I think common sense regulations are, um, common sense.)

Yeah, I kind of gave up on guns as an issue years ago. My side lost.

It just seems to me that there are more shooting incidents lately at colleges and schools and malls.

I saw that this 8 year old girl who was shot when a gun fell out of a child's back pack just got out of the hospital. I mean she was in hospital for something like two or three months.

And now it is the norm for schools to check all packages brought in by all the students!

We must replace legislation with education.

Americans are the Beverly Hillbillies of the world. We lack sophistication, and take pride in our stupidity. We want to be gunslingers. We're like children enraptured by the myth of the wild West. The only reason Ronald Reagan was elected and worshipped as president - in spite of his ignorance - was because he reminded us of John Wayne.

    HAHAHAHAHA

I was thinking, you recall how bad a speaker Reagan really was. I mean he had more pauses reading his flash cards than Obama has thinking about his answers to questions in order to formulate a decent opinion.

And the repubs just laud ole Ronny's great oratory!

Romney says our President is contradictory in his message; that our President is responsible for 2 million jobs lost before his legislation had even a chance to act; that our President is a socialist; that our President continually apologizes to other nations on behalf of all Americans; that our President spent too much time at Harvard (where Mitt spent a year longer); that our President somehow ignores terrorists (whilst more terrorists were removed from the world's population than any other president); and that our President cares not for the middle class as if Mitt ever gave one goddamn!

With great communicators (at least by numbers) like Corsi and Limbaugh and Erickson and Hannity and McDonnell and Boehner and Cantor and hundreds of others who seem to be constantly recognized by MSM; we are reminded that Americans will buy (fake) chocolate cereal, robes you put on backwards, cars that gulp down gasoline at 10 MPG, prepackaged pastas that are nothing but garbage to the taste, pretend bandages that attack tried and true veterans, spoiled rich kids with no sense of humanity like w as their chief executive, energy methods that cause earthquakes (for chrissakes), gun policies that murder our children whilst in elementary educational facilities, sports that ruin the thinking abilities of our youth (starting with concussions), appointed regulatory agents who openly accept postponed bribes in order to turn their heads when open felonies are apparent, card board cutouts of shamans who make tens of millions of dollars selling The Christ, media heroes who test the winds and proffer fictional histories and billionaires who claim empathy with those who do not have squat.

    the end

dd, without going into detail, there was an incident decades ago, where if I would have had immediate access to a gun, I would have used it!  That was a learning experience for me and to this day, I am thankful that there was not a gun for me to use in the 'moment'.

But,  I came to understand that there are those who given the opportunity (of which there are more than not) to use a gun, they will not hesitate to do so.  Also, there is NEVER a reason to have guns unsecured in a home with children.  And, IMO, common sense decrees that automatic weapons are not utilized for anything other than to needlessly maim and kill others.

The NRA is the monster we all should fear both in the light of day and the dark of night.

All we can do is warn (and hopefully train) our children and our loved ones to avoid harm.

And I have no idea how to do these things properly.

Individually we must apprise our neighbors of our presence in the neighborhood; find out who is 'guarding us' and who has firearms; find out who seems to be a bit free as far as fire arms are concerned; make sure our schools check every bag and every child that enters our educational centers; attempt to enact legislation that somehow concerns what types of weapons, what types of bullets, what types of clips are available to the public...

But the NRA will fight any attempt to keep weapons of mass destruction out of the hands of the public and they will fight any attempts to limit the locations where these weapons might be carried.

So far, we have lost every single battle on this issue.
