Basil Marceaux for Governor. Have a nice day. (Via Mario Piperni)
Redemption: Just because Tony Hayward was at the helm when British Petroleum dumped millions of gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico doesn’t mean it’s his fault. You jerks.
Disperse Me: The countdown is on – how long before the media connects the “1.7 million gallons of dispersant” and the “Where is the Oil” stories. Because I’m thinking that oil may have been dispersed.
Talking Iran: Iran is ready to talk again! Everything’s going to be just fine.
Internet Surveillance: Like the Bush Administration, the Obama Administration isn’t fond of warrants.
Snooki’d: Does Obama know who Snooki is our not? Millions of words will be written about this in the next 24 hours. Then quickly forgotten.
Ellen, Out: Ellen Degeneres is just too nice to be an American Idol judge.
Chelsea’s Wedding: The media is scouring New York for information on Chelsea Clinton’s wedding. Maybe Andrew Breitbart will release a video.
Alan Colmes Presents Liberaland: My latest at Colmes’ place – Mamma, don’t let your babies grow up in Red States.
Politico: Let’s see how long Politico will leave up a factually wrong post. The commenters are having no luck getting a correction and neither is Glenn Greenwald.
Americablog: Swift Boat donors charged with ‘extensive securities fraud’ by SEC. Who would have thought they’d be unethical?
Mudflats: The new Sarah Palin Book cover is here! The new Sarah Palin Book cover is here!
Personally, I prefer Basil Marceaux Jr. as a candidate.
Remembering when George H.W. Bush didn’t give the office the respect it requires.

How exactly does the Tennessee gubernatorial race work? I looked up this crazy Basil guy and found that he's one of several Republican candidates running for governor. There's also several Democrats and several independents. Have they not yet held their primaries, or is it a free-for-all?

The Wikipedia site on the race is fairly limited in information, but it does suggest (but not state outright) that there are primaries yet to be held.

Surprisingly, Basil doesn't appear to be showing significant support, even among Republicans…

Alvin Greene is all the reason you need to believe our boy Basil has a shot.

Re the factually wrong Politico article: There is now appended to it something called an "UPDATE: CORRECTION." It simply states information that contradicts the basic premise of the item. No explanation. No apology to Julian Assange, whom it had essentially accused of lying. Although undated, it appears to have gone up roughly 72 hours after the article was posted, and considerably more than 48 hours after numerous commenters first pointed out Politico's error.
"Reporter" Keach Hagey apparently did not read the comments her item generated until one of them emailed her personally. Here is part of her reply to "Geoff":
"Thanks for pointing this out. You're right, I would benefit by checking back to read comments more often. Before posting the item, I reached out to the Post to help me find the article in question, because their archives didn't turn it up. It took them 24 hours to find it the article, and I should have updated then."
My emphasis. Get that? The writer knew her item was incorrect about two full days before the correction appeared. A disgusting, shoddy parody of journalism. Politico sucks even worse than I thought.
