Trump’s business sought deal on a Trump Tower in Moscow while he ran for president
By Carol D. Leonning, Tom Hamburger and Rosalind S. Helderman @ WashingtonPost.com, Aug. 27 at 8:48 PM
While Donald Trump was running for president in late 2015 and early 2016, his company was pursuing a plan to develop a massive Trump Tower in Moscow, according to several people familiar with the proposal and new records reviewed by Trump Organization lawyers.
As part of the discussions, a Russian-born real estate developer urged Trump to come to Moscow to tout the proposal and suggested he could get President Vladimir Putin to say “great things” about Trump, according to several people who have been briefed on his correspondence.
The developer, Felix Sater [....]

What I am thinking is that this Tony Schwarz "Art of the Deal" guy really knows his man, I think with his Aug 16 tweets he could see the mania coming that he had seen before when Trump was trapped:
He just tweeted this an hour ago:
(Anytime you want to edit okay with me, you're the boss on the readers, I just added the Post's headline in the box. I use the sources headline mainly so someone else doesn't duplicate.)

P.S. Helps to review the yuge news storm Aug. 15 before Schwarz tweeted.
More like a rat caught in a trap going manic than a ratfucker? Meltdown going on. He knows what's coming and has to gather a new fan base for his future. His future definitely will not include high society charity peeps holding parties at Mar a Lago. Sheeet even Ivankas brand is getting killed. Maybe not even a single Russian oligarch will be a fan anymore.
(Melania probably not real cool with this all, knows what's coming, why she doesn't always look like a happy camper. This was supposed to be an elegant life for wifely duties trade.)

In this case Tony seems ti be in line with a dozen others, but yes, it's a big deal - should be politically, but Trump's fans don't care. But legally, it's an irrefutable huge coverup, sign of burying much worse, and the first ineluctable display of "the fish rots from the head down". So many of Trump's displays of torturous obvious lying can be marked down as power plays of some sort. But here it's just a mess and a botched coverup. He's going down.
And yeah, I like ledes that fit the column and provide some oomph and insight. Especially when packed together.

The NYT has Sater emails, separate from WaPo's sources, just published:
Moscow Tower Deal Could Make Trump President, Ally Said
By MATT APUZZO and MAGGIE HABERMAN 8:42 PM ET
Felix Sater, a Trump associate, promised to engineer a real estate deal for a Trump Tower in Moscow with the aid of President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia. “We will get Donald elected,” he wrote

I suspect Putin nixed Trump Tower knowing the presidency was a much bigger prize - and a Trump Tower would bring too much visibility at a time when he wanted to push all his under-the-radar resources. Putin's not as stupid as Trump, need I remind.
And yeah, this is my own idea, not gleaned from Twitter et al. and contrary to all the other theories I've heard so far.

I dunno, I suspect you sorta cheated, you've had a full day to learn about the most recent development but didn't share it:
Kremlin says it got the Trump Tower email but didn’t respond
by artappraiser on Wed, 08/30/2017 - 6:18pm
Oh, I think I"d seen that, but most people were thinking that Trump hadn't delivered on promises to make Putin willing to go through with it, but I just don't think Trump Tower had any upside for Putin and would work against a cyber operation, whereas cash payouts could be private and more valuable for Trump than the Tower anyway. (Putin has no problem giving away a billion dollars here and there).

Seth Abramson largely concurs with this idea in latest string of tweets, but from earlier timeframe, 2013. Says Putin wouldn't meet Donald because would have political fallout, too obvious, but gave him Sberbank loan, had his property right hand man meet him, permits guy, big announcement - and an ill-advised less than restrained night or 2 of celebrations in which they scored some heavy kompromat on the big idiot.

A Huffpo reporter caught Cohen at a coffee shop yesterday (in Watermill, NY, next to " the Hamptons") and got him to talk some:
Even Trump’s Lawyer Thinks His Life Is A Bad Movie
Michael Cohen responds to the explosive new accusations in the Russia investigation.
In other news, he's doing: you can't scare me, I'm a lawyer:
