Venal, buffoonish old-fashioned pol corruption like this offers a welcome respite from the much more serious wrong-doing we see so often today.
It makes me feel like the old values haven't disappeared after all. God's in His heaven and all is right with the world.
Puts me in the mood to curl up with a Dickens or Sinclair Lewis novel.

Ha, I love your intro. What a story.

Christie says he was misled by an aide.

I have been following the story as it has unfolded. It makes you wonder just how many of the other Democrats that indorsed him did it because they didn't want any trouble from his staff. I find it ironic because Christy was going to be the salvation of the moderate wing of the Republican Party.

New Jersey should be ashamed of itself in not living up to its previous standards of complex and colorful gubernatorial scandal. What would Tony Soprano say?

Since you have been so impolitic as to raise the Carla Katz story, with it's sub textual truce declared between Corzine and Christie vis-a-vis Christie's own mistress (who was on his staff when he was US Attorney), permit me to raise a point that may not burnish my feminist credentials, but let's hope that Tmac is off skiing...
Have you taken a good look at Bridget Kelly? Are we to believe that Christie had someone that cute on his staff and the only screwing going on was, (as Chris Hayes put it today) that she (Bridget) was screwing Fort Lee?

I dunno. NJ politics gives me a headache after a while. There's no real political parties there, only Tony Soprano's.
(I recall SNL once did a real good skit with Tony doing comment and analysis on the McGreevey scandals.)

Let me put it crudely, (as a dinosaur who always figured that co-ed pussy was part of his professorial compensation package, likewise my secretaries...)
If she were working for me, I'd be fucking her. And I don't think Christie is any different.

My, my. I guess the little doll would have no say in the matter? Her sweet looks would make it a done deal? And, really, how could she resist a hunk like Christie?
Yes, it must have happened just that way.

That Christie is a whole lotta man! (If Kissinger could get over on the aphrodesiac effect of power, anyone can).
And don't blame me-I made my living as a sex object.
That said, I think we can reliably predict that Christie is a sex harasser first class. By history, he has the merit badge

Edit to add: I know it will not surprise you to learn that not infrequently, beautiful women who work for powerful, if repulsive, men find it possible to suppress their disgust where a top level administrative position is on offer.

Boy, having a bedroom romp with Christy would take courage. Working for Walmart would look good in comparison.

The video of Tony's analysis of NJ politics is apparently no longer available, but I did find a transcript with photos, here (it was short and sweet, doesn't take long to read):

He didn't agree with you about the wisdom of mixing business with pleasure.
And note, the Serbian/Jew stuff is classic, Tony put similar in his commentary
...Everybody knows the big guys handle security and the Jews watch the money....

Well, I respectfully differ with the esteemed goombah on one point. I always put my girlfriends on the payroll...not that I recommend this practice in retrospect, mind you...

Ewww.. Oh My God.. ewww.
I need to go bleach my brain now. Thanks so much for the jolly.

Yeah, well, tmac, I gave up long ago on trying to 'splain the eww factor for women to jolly when he starts talking that way. I figure if no one ever trained him to talk to regular women (and not just dykes and sex workers,) in the end it's not my problem, but his, especially in meatspace, eh?
Especially since I know from some of his other opinions that his heart is on the right side on the inequality front.

Dammit Tmac, you said you were skiing!
