Michelle Obama's marvelous DNC speech included the historical fact that slaves built the White House but know a black family occupies the White House, a moving story of progress. Whenever an Obama tells a moving story, you know that there will be a Pavlovian response from Fox News trying to destroy the beauty. This time the task was left to Bill O'Reilley. Bill had to fact check the story, because he has never read a book that he has not had ghost-written. O'Reilley verified that slaves did build the White House along with free blacks and white men. O'Reilley also wants you to know that the slaves were well-fed and well-housed. It is unclear how O'Reilley is so sure about the eating habits and lodging of the slaves.
O'Reilly is the same racist nitwit who was surprised that blacks were capable of using eating utensils. No one at Fox is moral enough to challenge O'Reilley's racism, but we have become so comfortable with the bilge the comes from Fox News that we have to call it when we see it. Conservatives have lost their moral compass. Paul Ryan supports a racist who inspired a Klan leader to run for Congress. We are comfortable with seeing Ryan at the podium and do not really see him for what he has become. We deserve better from Conservatives.

If the slaves weren't happy and well fed, they wouldn't sing work songs as seen in TV documentaries O'Reilly recalls seeing.

O' Reilley opines that the slaves were well-fed and had good lodging. Abigail Adams wife of John Adams had a different impression of the condition of the slaves. She amused herself watching them work.Mrs. Adams noted that the slaves were half-fed and poorly clothed. Perhaps the slaves did get lodging in a Holiday Inn.

Mrs.Adams analysis of the state of the slave's condition is likely to be more accurate than O'Reilley's assessment

Probably a disdain for black unions, you know. Once it switched to right-to-work states all problems were solved...
