After a botched disastrous Trump approved raid on a puny al Qaeda camp in Yemen, Michael Flynn, Trump's National Security advisor, threatens unknown consequences for Iran, a nation 3 times bigger than Iraq and much better armed. The hard liners in Iran would love it if Trump started a war.

NCD ... For some strange reason...
I have the sinking suspicion that the mouth-breathing droolers
with an inch of forehead are biting at the bit over this one.

Is that Bannon.......or his little brother? Gotta be an alt right.
TRUMP DOESN'T TAKE SHIT FROM NO MULLAHS....
Bombing Iran along with these domestic policies could give us the war of civilizations Bannon dreams about. Booman blog:

I haven't glanced at Iran state news in English @ http://www.irna.ir/en/ in ages. A glance there now shows to me that they are not taking the Trumpian bait yet, they are still hoping for reason. Believe me, they know how to fight back with vicious agitprop if they want to, they are very savvy skilled at that. Instead, right now they are pushing relatively rational stories like Trump cannot afford to shut out Iran if he wants to defeat ISIS and Saudi Arabia not visa-banned; US terrorism double standards. They are looking more calm and collected than like The Guardian!
Suggests to me: something is going on with Putin assuring them about Trump? Along the lines of this Dec. 2016 WaPo essay: Trump can’t be pals with Putin and stand up to Iran
I know for a fact that back in the Bush days there was secret collaboration on Al Qaeda while continuing to throw word pies in the respective media. I suspect the mullahs in the past did the whole Israel thing very pragmatically-the U.S. rah-rah pro, Iran viciously con- and was just a sop to respective populations and realpolitik was the real chess game.
We are definitely in "developing,,,," stage right now, though..

We still haven't gone to war with Iran so that leaves the possibility that we won't, maybe evidence that it is not even likely with them or with anyone else new either.

And I think: We’re on our own. No one is going to save us from these people. I’m glad we’re fighting so hard. I believe there is more intelligence, more grit, more vision, more power in all of us than in all of them. We are all leaders, we must all lead. Keep fighting. Keep fighting. They must be stopped.
From your Corey Robin piece. It's brief, so I'm not sure who "these people" are, or who we're to "keep fighting". I assume he means the leaders within our government, the decision makers with whom he disagrees, but I can't tell without doubt. I also wonder how we must all lead ... if we are all leaders who are we leading?
At any rate, I understand that he believes in and is a strong proponent of peace between nations and nonintervention. A position that is nearly impossible to disagree with on solid ground. Yet reading the above -and more- it's also nearly impossible to find peace in his words.

Well, he did give a trigger warning in the title. "Morbid Thoughts in Time of Trump" Robin is not the first to think that a major war could start today tripped off by stupidity analogous to that which started WWI. That even as many millions of people think they are already in a major war.

Apparently I wasn't clear. I find it nearly impossible to find that he's advocating peace in his words. But I guess it depends on who you're fighting.

I have absolutely zero proof on this, but my intuition is that Trump believes really nasty saber rattling is a war preventative. I.E.,big scary U.S., king of the world, don't tread on me or I may go nuts. (Not that I think that works, no way, is like a belief of those that haven't read history. Just that it is what it is.)

The Nixon strategy.
by barefooted on Wed, 02/01/2017 - 11:42pm
The Reagan strategy. Nixon steadily pulled out 500,000 troops over 4 years, whatever his faults were. Ironically he did a much better job fixing LBJ's quagmire than Obama did Bush's, but that point will never make it into popular thinking. (though LBJ had a much better reason for being in Indochina than Bush in the Mideast - the threat wasn't a mirage)

I was referring to this Nixon strategy.

Trump:Hillary's Comet Pizza brothel is the place to put those Aussie refugees! That'll teach them!

oh yeah, I have to admit, despite what I just said on another thread, the whole child sex slaves pizza thing (warning: is a NYT link) is where discussions with boomer friends about being accepting of millenial trends in narrative thinkin' gets a little heated

NCD, you inspired me to visit another site I haven't thought of in ages, much less been to; turns out you're simpatico on the news!

Trump makes news for them all, and that means clicks and eyeballs and MONEY! War is even better!
Practically though, can Daggers get privileged places in the secret Comet Pizza basement, in case Mexico, Australia, Yemen, Iraq or Iran shoot back?
