I'm pretty sure the last time someone pulled this shit, it was south of the Mason-Dixon, and involved a fraternity party "homeless people theme" (Stay classy, my DEKE brothers...). I will crawl over broken glass to replace this piece of shit, but I don't think it'll work.

Was that the same party that had someone dressed as a klansman?

I doubt you mean the Purim party, so you must mean the "homeless themed" gathering. I believe that I do recollect something like that, but it could be the drugs...

No. It was Purim. Something about being the wicked man. I do not know much about Purim celebrations and am not really all that interested but the caption caught me by surprise and so I read it a couple of times.

Well, there is that recurrent theme in Jewish festivals "They tried to kill us, we're still here, let's eat!". Maybe the klan guy was a stand in for Hamen (sp?).

Haman
A lesson for all, who think they are the high and mighty. Arrogance and humility
A lesson Pharaoh learned the hard way too; don't fight the Hebrew God.

Purim narrative
Haman did try to kill the Jews and the present day Haman class, continues their hatred and rivalry, not to be satisfied, until the Jews bow down to them.
An old conflict.

Dov Hikind's excuse: 'I was just, I think, I was trying to emulate, you know, maybe some of these basketball players' ... 'I can’t imagine anyone getting offended.'
Hikind has been around NYC politics since the early 80's.
This kind of offensive stuff coming from him doesn't really surprise me, but it does make me wonder, what the f*ck was he thinking ... Does he think that his district is so heavily made up of Orthodox Jews that no-one in his district will care about this display of racism or maybe he thinks it will actually enhance his image amongst his Conservative Orthodox Jewish base.
Whatever he was thinking, in reality, it was just plain dumb.

Ouch. My grandmother of blessed memory would probably say in her yiddish/english that this is not good for the Jews! And Hikind, where is his head at? The guy is an embarrassment and, as a legislator in Brookly, should really know better. Shame.
