JOHNNY CASH: How High's the Water Mama?

    File:Johnny Cash At San Quentin.jpg

    Johnny Cash 1932-2003

Johnny Cash is a hero of mine; always was. Actually worked in Arkansas cotton fields as a little boy singing southern religious dirges as he worked.

He tells the story of his Daddy keeping his mother informed as to the height of the water at the point of a Mississippi levi by the family farm. If the water reached five feet, the entire family would have to leave for other parts until the water subsided.

    INTRO

    My mama always taught me

That good can come from adversity

If we put our faith in the Lord.

    We cannot readily see

A lot of good in this country

If we do not strike the proper chord.

So let us ring out the New Year's bell

Sounding the real repub death knell

    TWO FEET HIGH & RISIN':

Well repubs are washin' out in ole DC

Can't get a grasp on reality

But one thing we can all agree

    Two feet high and risin'

    How high's the water Boner?

    Two feet high and risin

    How high's the water McConnell?

    Two feet high and risin

Medicare's all broke in seven years*

Health care reform is comin near

Destroyin' all we hold so dear

The public's on to all our fears

But somethin's comin & all we can hear

Is three feet high and risin'

    How high's the water Limbaugh?

    Three feet high & risin

How high's the water Glenn Beck?

    Three feet high & risin'

Well Tiger now is where it's at

We might as well just call him black

We'll tie him to our friend Barack

And throw in OJ, we neer cared for  tact

For them it's "where the white women at?"

    Four feet high & risin'

    How high's the water Murdoch?

    Four feet high & risin'

How high's the water Fox News?

    Four feet high & risin'

Well sometimes it all makes no sense

The graphs add up to 120 percent

It seems they're all just really hell bent

In bringin us all to the big descent

Into nothing but fiction with no reticence

    Five feet high & risin'

    How high's the water Palin?

    Five feet high & risin'

    How high's the water Bachmann?

    Five feet high & risin'

Well this duo is gloatin' on the highest perch

    Free from any serious research

Spendin' all their time tryin to besmirch

Leavin' thinkin' repubs in the lurch

Its only money and fame for which they search

    Six feet high & risin'

    How high's the water McCain?

    Six feet high & risin'

    How high's the water  Huckabee?

    Six feet high & risin'

The CEO's are still makin' too much bread

Regulation aint gonna help we always said

Embarrassment should make our faces red

The system's not just broke it's dead

Guess we'll blame the dems and go to bed

    Seven feet high & risin'

Well its seven foot high & risin'
