    Ms. BACHMANN IS NUTS!

    Medea by Evelyn De Morgan

I doubt I have enough training to delve into the area of psychological diagnosis to test out on some ITT Tech exam.

But I wish to bring to the fore some doubts I have as to the sanity of Michele Bachmann.

And I wish to do this while I lay aside my own prejudice in this area of discussion.

I know that this unbiased purpose is difficult to achieve.

But forgetting for the moment how much I hate this bitch (I know, I am not a woman and should not say the word bitch just like I should not say the 'n' word because I am not black but frankly dear, I don't give a damn!)

I have adequately, at least in my mind as a graduate of ITT Tech in the area of psychological warfare, having described my feelings regarding the psychological fitness for office of any repub on the scene— I think I have fairly exculpated the two nuns from Maine in my assessment!

Michele who does not really understand how to properly spell her name has created (in my mind at least) a reasonable doubt as to her sanity and her psychological health for chrissakes.

I will, hopefully discuss my own psychological and neurological issues throughout this essay.

And I will conclude that we must remark: ECCE HOMO as we witness this severely mentally impaired person survive and become a leading figure in the run for the Presidency of the United States.

Here was the quote that caught my eye today:

Bachmann said 30 million Americans suffer from migraines and that “nearly 1 in 4 American households” have a migraine sufferer. “While I appreciate the concern for myself and for my health,” she added, looking to climb back down to safer ground, “the greater concern should be the debate that is occurring today in Washington, D.C., over whether or not we will increase our debt spending and taxes.” Bachmann reiterated that she would not vote to raise the debt ceiling. And with that, she departed without taking questions.

That’s when things got interesting. Ross dashed after Bachmann, repeatedly asking whether she had ever missed a House vote due to a migraine. She ignored him. Ross pursued her into a parking area behind the stage. Her aides grew alarmed. When Ross made a beeline for the white SUV waiting to carry Bachmann away, two Bachmann men pounced on him, grabbing and pushing him multiple times with what looked to me like unusual force. In fact, I have never seen a reporter treated so roughly at a campaign event, especially not a presidential one. Ross was finally able to break away and lob his question at Bachmann one more time, but she continued to ignore him.

Okay, so we know there is something not right with the Bachmann team.

And that is because (IMO) her neurons do not fire correctly.

    I know the feeling.

I went to internists and neurologists for two decades to discuss my own problems in this area.

I am an epileptic and I have migraines, but usually without pain. I mean I have all of the symptoms. I will go blind from time to time with auras that do not always lead me to seizures. By blind I mean there are zig-zagged lines in my vision and a corruption of my sight so that I have to lay down. I cannot read any longer.

On line I discovered exactly what was going on!

Now Michele's testimony as well as the testimony of others around her clicked for some reason. I kind of get what her problems are.

So let me just discuss for a short time her other symptoms.

She married this effeminate guy after coming from a family that included a lesbian half sister. I mean that is a fact. I do not need to have Jon Stewart point this out to me and Mr. Bachmann's effeminacy is all over the web.

But anyone can tell that he is not on the male/male side of things. I mean you have the urge to ask his help with regard to a choice of ties in the context of your new suit. Okay?

Well Mr. Bachmann, who is soooooooooooo very anti-gay sounds and moves like an interior decorator in the 50's. It would be like Liberace slamming gays and the gay life style.

So castrate me if you wish, this is all sooooooooooo very clear to me.

    But let us move on!

Besides experiencing the headaches, Michele hears the voice of God!

I mean she makes this clear all of the time. This is not nuance. This is right from the horse's mouth—assuming that you see her as a horse like I do!

"When I have sensed that the Lord is calling me to do something, I've said yes to it. But I will not seek a higher office if God is not calling me to do it. That's really my standard.

My original problem with this issue is the fact that right wing fascist repub pricks always talk with god, or so they say.

One of the delegates, Nabil Shaath, who was Palestinian foreign minister at the time, said: "President Bush said to all of us: 'I am driven with a mission from God'. God would tell me, 'George go and fight these terrorists in Afghanistan'. And I did. And then God would tell me 'George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq'. And I did."

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2005/oct/07/iraq.usa

Chris Matthews for years has admonished us all that we may never see into the heart of another human being with regard to his thoughts and his spirituality.

Well, bullshite! George W with his many DUI's and his tricks with regard to the Texas stadium and his straight out lies about Iraq & 9/11/01....well I am done with this diversion!

I think Michele actually hears the voice of God! I believe her. And I think I know why!

This all has to do with the neurological/psychological mis-wiring of her brain.

I kept reading, over the last few years, of Ms. Bachmann's problems with staff.

Her staff as a State Rep and her staff as a Congressional Rep and her staff as a candidate for the highest office in the land run away from her like cubs from a male polar bear

In confirming several migraine incidents first reported Tuesday by the Daily Caller, a conservative online publication, POLITICO found new details of their effect on Bachmann’s performance and their pervasive influence on her congressional office.

In March 2006, migraines Bachmann suffered in the aftermath of an appendectomy prolonged her recovery from surgery, causing her to suspend her campaign and miss a week of work in the Minnesota state Senate, where she served at the time.

A migraine attack in May 2010 forced Bachmann to retreat to her congressional office and lie down in the dark. She managed to attend early afternoon congressional votes before flying to California and attended two political events, but she was in pain much of the time and sought emergency treatment. When Congress reconvened the following Tuesday, Bachmann missed a day of votes.

The Daily Caller also reported an October 2010 incident that forced Bachmann to lie down at the home of a Connecticut donor who was hosting a fundraiser, and then to seek urgent care treatment in New York. Sources with firsthand knowledge confirmed the report to POLITICO.

One former top Bachmann staffer, who denied being a source of the Daily Caller report, told POLITICO the congresswoman’s migraines were so prevalent that the entire office and campaign staff knew about the problem — even the interns.

Within the Bachmann team, this was not a secret about her headaches and the problems and doors going closed. It could be anyone from an intern to a chief of staff that could be aware of this,” the staffer said....

Bachmann’s campaign denied her brother Paul Amble, a psychiatrist in Connecticut, permission to speak to POLITICO about her condition. But the congresswoman’s son Dr. Lucas Bachmann, a medical resident at the University of Connecticut who has knowledge of her treatment, told the New York Times on Tuesday that her prescribed medications include two to treat the symptoms of cranial pressure and vomiting, and preventive drugs he described as “standard migraine treatment medications.”

Because of these factors, “A two-paragraph statement where she says she’s OK is not going to fly. It’s not enough,” said GOP consultant Ron Bonjean. “This is an issue that is neurological in nature, that affects consciousness and the ability to think clearly.”

Forget bloodletting and the phases of the moon for a second (a favorite topic for misogynists) Michele was and is difficult to deal with during the phases of her migraines.

The press, outside of FOX and the NAZI blogs, always questioned her sanity.

I mean look at her eyes, her appearance on MSM sometime a couple of years ago and now. Somebody has taught her to not hold her eyes open like she is on coke or something.

    I mean talk about wide-eyed.

Michelle looked absolutely out of her mind in so many of her pictures including the video that Chris Matthews likes to play all the time. In that video she calls for the investigation of all Democrats in Congress to determine their patriotsim!

She looks at times like she is some psycho running on the streets of DT NYC!

Now read this rather long discussion concerning Representative Bachmann's problems with staff—even I decided to edit this to a minimum so check out the site.

In confirming several migraine incidents first reported Tuesday by the Daily Caller, a conservative online publication, POLITICO found new details of their effect on Bachmann’s performance and their pervasive influence on her congressional office.

    In March 2006....

A migraine attack in May 2010 forced Bachmann... Bachmann missed a day of votes.

    ...

One former top Bachmann staffer, who denied being a source of the Daily Caller report, told POLITICO the congresswoman’s migraines were so prevalent that the entire office and campaign staff knew about the problem — even the interns.

Within the Bachmann team, this was not a secret about her headaches...

Bachmann’s campaign denied her brother Paul Amble, a psychiatrist in Connecticut, permission to speak to POLITICO about her condition.....

Well this physical/neurological/psychological problem would tend to hurt ones relationship with his/her employees:

As Mark Halperin notes, this story was buttressed by former Bachmann aides - her team described them as "disgruntled" - whose numbers are large, based on the volume of staffers she's churned through during her five years in the House:

"One has to wonder, though, if Team Bachmann has a plan for dealing with all the former staffers who clearly have stories they plan to tell, in direct proportion to her chances of winning the nomination. What can Bachmann do about it? Outreach? Outreach with honey? Outreach with vinegar?"

Since part of Bachmann's appeal has been that she will take reporters' questions - an MO that has been compared to Sarah Palin repeatedly - events done without facing the press don't seem like a long-term option.

Now Halperin is cuing into the so-called Lame/Stream Media accusations from the right.

But Bachmann's staff keeps resigning from her EMPLOY.

They cannot stand it; people cannot deal with this poor sick woman!

Watch her as she fails to respond to Chris Matthews' questions as she is reelected to the House in 2010:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdan9FyoyQE&feature=player_embedded

    See she cannot help it!

Chris points out that Michele Bachmann looks like a Zombie while she attempts to respond on National Television during her great win in her Minnesota District last year. I had thought Ms. Bachmann was purposefully ignoring Matthews' actual questions and just spewing out talking points. But now I am not so sure.

She is sure that she is not lost and she is sure she is not aching and she thinks she is on her way home.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VT-SFgkVlno

But she is lost, and she is aching and she cannot find her way home.

And I swear to Almighty God, that it brings tears to my eyes!

You see, when you are in IT, you cannot see your way out of it!

If Michele had just been a total psychotic, she would experience no bother, no bother at all.

But instead she falls into this Eden for awhile and then ends up on a couch with the lights all turned off, hoping that the pain will go away!

Yet she must keep up her 'front'. She must deny, deny, deny....

And then blame all of her problems on the Lame Stream Media.

Folks, my point is that this lady is more seriously ill than Palin ever was.

But even as an ITT TECH grad, I would not say that Michele Bachmann is psychotic.

I came across a great blog by a woman who explains the difference between psychosis and neurosis from a personal standpoint.

So from everything that I end up reading about bipolar as a mental illness; I understand that the victim becomes manic and finding herself at an extreme "high" and thinking she is "superhuman", superior to others  and actually on a mission by "God".

My questions comes in as...What if you do not believe in a god, then do your manic highs, still have you thinking you got a mission from god, or would they develop as something else?

I warned you, totally off the wall. Just looking for other peoples insights into the topic.

    http://www.mdjunction.com/forums/bipolar-support-forums/general-support/1534156-god-ghosts-and-hallucination

If you have not given up on me so far, take some time and read this link. It is always more interesting to read the experience of a real live human being than some second hand source like a PHD in psychology or psychiatry.

There is other evidence of behavioral outbursts by this woman; I mean this woman who wishes to be President of the United States.

She hides in bushes to spy on some gay community get-together!

She screams from a bathroom that a lesbian is attacking her.

She has her protectors kick the shite out of one of the world's most respected newsmen. http://thestir.cafemom.com/in_the_news/123376/michele_bachmann_attacks_reporter_brian

    See http://althouse.blogspot.com/2011/07AND And http://www.dumpbachmann.com/2005/04/and http://radioequalizer.blogspot.com/2010/03

Just google it! You will find right wing and left wing and psychotic wings all discussing this issue.

It is just that this poor woman has heard THE VOICE OF GOD and she believes it!

I can get into the contradictions inherent in the lives of the Bachmanns-- which I have alluded to on many occasions.

I mean she and her hubby have existed almost exclusively on Federal/State/County funding for decades; be it monies for their foster care program, or her salary from the IRS or Mr. Bachmann's Medicare claims......

That is all fine and dandy; par for the course in the case of any republican politician.

Michele Bachmann is not necessarily a hypocrite like McConnell or Boehner or Cantor or....Michele Bachmann is a very sick woman! She is not psychotic, she is bi-polar with auditory hallucinations!  And...

She might very well be the next President of the United States of America!

    hahahahhahah

See, she wont even walk back this silliness.

    She can't!

She went to this silly religious college anyway which is where she received her Jd...

But she really does not see where the lame stream media is coming from.

I mean she is really really lost!

    We live in this Democracy....

So we are threatened from time to time from people who cannot read and who hear voices.

    hahaha

    Richard,

I’ve mentioned to you several times how much we think alike. This is proof positive. You said the following:

"I mean look at her eyes, her appearance on MSM sometime a couple of years ago and now. Somebody has taught her to not hold her eyes open like she is on coke or something.

    I mean talk about wide-eyed."

Here are three tweets I’ve done on this very subject:

Michele Bachman needs to leave the gay issue alone. Her husband is not only gay, but in a state of effervescent Bliss.

Nuts, bipolar, angry, headachy, hypocrite, nuthin' ever her fault, psychotic, thinks she has a direct line to Gawd, SHE IS LIKE THEM, THE BUSH BASE!

There are two types of people that strongly maintain the absolute certainty of their positions; strong, dynamic leaders ... and crazy people. Unfortunately, there's a lot of people out there, (mostly Republicans),  that can't tell the difference. Bachmann gets mistaken for a strong, dynamic leader not in spite of being crazy, but BECAUSE she is crazy ... and is absolutely sure of her positions on everything, even when the facts say otherwise.  Republicans are convinced that seeing more than one side of an issue makes you a weak and indecisive leader. To them, compromise is anathema, because they know exactly what is right and there can be no compromising with the truth!  No wonder she is surging in the polls.

    MS. DECIDER!

If that thought does not scare the shite out Americans, nothing will.

The problem isn't really that she is nuts, the problem is that there are people ready to vote for her... those are the nuts we have to worry about.

Probably the most profound and troubling aspect of our electoral process. hahahaa

I mean we did vote in w bush for a second term for chrissakes!

What do you mean, 'we', DD?

    Well I am an American.

I sure the hell never voted for the sonofabitch.

But a majority of my fellow citizens did.

So I guess WE voted him in!

DD, I know this is meant to be funny, and you're making some very good points about her hypocrisy, but my hair is sorta standing on end right now.  I make fun of her, too, (in fact a whole lot of fuss came from my line "Speaking of vegetables"...!) but you're making some claims here that you either can't prove or probably shouldn't be getting into.

Bi-polar with hallucinations?  I think you had better step carefully here.  And as for her migraines...  The migraines you have, with no pain, are a major inconvenience, but I've known several people who have had such debilitating migraines they're screaming in pain.  A family member killed himself because he couldn't stand the pain a moment longer.  It's not a subject that's funny to anyone who experiences them or spends time with people who do.

You've also, I think, come very close to stepping over the sexist line.  I'm not one to get too carried away with that one, but I'm feelin' it here. IMO It takes away from your arguments against her as a political candidate

I think, too, that whether or not her husband is gay or straight is another distraction we don't need right now.  I frankly don't care how he leans, but I do care when he tries to convert gays to straight.  That's a real issue.

My point, I guess, is there's enough ammunition against her crazy political views, and if we're going to stop her from even getting close to the presidency that's what we need to focus on.

DD, you know you're one of my favorite people and I hesitated about writing this, but honestly, the more I read it, the more I wondered where you were going with this.   It's not the migraines that will disqualify her, but her unerring ignorance of the issues.  And her unwillingness to learn.  She's discovered how to pander to a growing audience who are as willing to wallow in ignorance as she is.  She's crazy like a Fox.

I just got through editing this a bit before reading your comment.

First, I do get the headaches from time to time with the sight issue; it is just that most of the time I just get "blinded" and lasts an hour or so.

Second, it was one of the last links that got to me. The blogger had been misdiagnosed as being psychotic and now she is being treated as a bipolar--we used to call it manic depressive in the old days.

Third, I have not read her medical file and I am not trained as a psychologist. But:

On several occasions over the last decade, Ms. Bachmann has had to stop whatever she was doing as a direct result of her condition; many times having to get to an ER.

On several occasions Ms. Bachmann has lost a good part of her staff; not just her official House staff but her campaign staff and her state legislative staff.

On several occasions Ms. Bachmann has acted out behaviorally like that incident in the bathroom.

On several occasions Ms. Bachmann has been in denial--like when she is challenged on her misinterpretations of eight grade American History.

On several occasions Ms. Bachmann has demonstrated an unhealthy obsession with gay people. Her statements concerning fears of gay people stealing our children are not indicative of a sane view of the universe. These statements go above and beyond those of almost all her competitors for the GOP nomination.

Now, I saw her just the other day lie some more about my President and the dems in Congress and the 'lamestream media" and all that other repub horseshite.

But that is just regular repub propaganda. I am used to that.

And I certainly have composed blogs 'proving' that people like Beck & Rush & Cantor are sociopaths--but those blogs were just meant to demonstrate how shallow the professional definitions of sociopathic behavior have become.

I sincerely believe that Ms. Bachmann is not evil.

But I sincerely believe that she is mentally ill.

    (a) I'd like to second Ramona's concern, as well as my general admiration for what you write.

    (b) At the risk of Godwin'ing the thread:

I sincerely believe that Ms. Bachmann is not evil.

But I sincerely believe that she is mentally ill.

Would you say that Hitler was mentally ill? I'm definitely not equating Ms. Bachmann with Hitler, but to the degree that there's any meaning at all to the word "evil", I think evil would almost imply mentally ill.

I know but that kind of thinking throws me back into chaos.

I think Michele thinks she is doing right; she probably is aware that she cuts some corners for the greater good but her universe is real to her.

She has to believe that our Founding Fathers had one concern: to get rid of slavery. That is part of her universe.

Cheney, now dickyboy was and is pure evil as far as I am concerned. He never believes one thing that comes out of his mouth or his writings. Obviously that is my opinion--based upon the fact that his take on things is so very very incorrect and based upon his high degree of intelligence.

I believe that Hitler was evil; more evil than Cheney for heavens sake! Psychologists have made a lot of money "proving" that Adolph was mentally ill and writing about his missing testicle or his drug addiction or his crazy family...

Bachmann's mania and depression along with her denial and obsessions as well as her neurological deficits tell me that she is ill.

Of course, maybe she is Eve-Ill. ha

In the end it doesn't matter what or how she thinks.  We could analyze her and dissect her to death, but then it takes away from the real issue, which is the fact that she is drawing support from many quarters and may get within sneezing distance of the presidency.

The Republicans would love nothing more than for us to be distracted from the issues and go for the personal.  It's how they have to operate, since everything they want to do to this country would, in daylight, be hated by nearly everyone.  So if they can make us the enemy, that'll be enough for the people who've been trained to believe we're the enemy, anyway.  Facts don't matter as long as there's someone to hate.

But if we're going to win this thing our strongest weapons are the facts.  Their policies are destructive to the majority of the citizens of this country.  Michele Bachmann is busy pushing those policies, and why she does it or how poorly or how well she does it makes for interesting fodder but it doesn't open closed minds.  In fact, as we've seen before with the Right Wing zealots, if they feel threatened they'll band together like rapacious hyenas and try and rip us to shreds.

And by the way, that last sentence?  Noticed.

Sometimes when one just considers the comment section, it is easy to think that we're all just talking with the choir around here.  But there are many who just pass by without commenting, as had been recently noted in another blog.  How many of these are outside the choir, so to speak.  What we blog and comment reflects on the left and center-left, and possibly has some impact on those who might be in  a position to be persuaded on a few topics.

Along similar lines, the last sentence I think brings up that commenting on Bachmann brings with it similar commenting territory in the same way commenting about Obama because of his race.  I think we can all remember some of the really unfortunate statements on the blogosphere about Hillary Clinton because of her gender by Democrats, Republicans and Independents alike.  We need to try and keep our comments about Bachmann as closely tied to her political views as possible.

I agree with Dick's sentiments but in truth we play into Bachmann's hands when we rant and rave about her. For that is the hand Ed Rollins will play for her. She'll never make it to the nomination, but she may be a shoe-in for V.P if Romney is nominated. Her role is to solidify the vote which becomes all the more entrenched the more we demonize her. Her role would be to bring in the Evangelicals, bigots, racists and know-nothings (it's very tempting, isn't it Dick?)who otherwise could never get excited about Romney.

But I think the game just changed, as Rove sort of trashed Bachmann. Bush bundlers and neo criminals such as Feith are now advising Perry. The nomination of Perry, in my opinion, would obviate the need for Bachmann, which I think is the point.

But I hope Dick will continue his rants, they are much appreciated.

For my headaches I drink two full strength cokes and take 2-4 Sinus Advils, all at the same time. It's quite a shock to the system so don't use this remedy without consulting a physician. But in the least it will knock out a headache. Oh, in order to buy Sinus Advil you have to show your driver's license, sign your name, give your current address and have your pupils scanned (damned liberals), so you might not want to sign up for another gummint intrusion.

Don't be so sure about her not getting the nomination.  Given the short time that she has been an actual candidate, her numbers are the envy of the rest of the field.  She seems poised to win the Iowa caucus.  If she can follow that up with a win in South Carolina and a competitive race in New Hampshire, she could leverage that to make a very serious bid for the nomination.  These are strange and difficult times, so how the voters react (including which ones stay home during the primaries out of disgust for whole lot of 'em) is probably more unknown than in recent years.

Point well taken. I guess I'd be less alarmed if she were actually the presidential nominee.

I would be less alarmed, too.  I know the Obama team would probably be high-fiving if she got the nomination.  And for that reason that The Powers That Be within the GOP (hey, that rhymes) will do what they can to derail her nomination.

I think this kind of thinking highlights a possible flaw in human mental wiring. (I'm speaking generally, and not about any one in particular.)

The expected cost (positive or negative) of an event is the probability of that event happening times the cost of that event happening. The probability of Bachmann getting elected were she to win the GOP nomination is less than the probability of (say) Huntsman getting elected were he to win the GOP nomination. However, I'm sure most of us would agree that the cost would be far worse. Thus, I'm not sure I'd be necessarily celebrating her winning the GOP nomination.

I hear what you're saying.  But...for the record neither of us said we would be celebrating, just that we would have less alarm if she was the presidential nominee than the VP nominee since the latter held a higher chance of happening.  The Obama team would probably be celebrating since from a strictly election strategist perspective, she would be the weakest of the front runners in a national campaign.

Yeah and she might just end up on the ticket as VP.

It could tie the tea party in and repubs would have another woman on the ticket...

These elections are always close anyway and I count out no one.

Oh and I guess you are calling me on eve-ill?

It is a pun of course in response to another comment.

But damn, I have nothing but praise for our female dems. I wanted Hillary on the ticket top or bottom; Pelosi is my hero; Shultz is another hero and on the repub side I almost always find something good to say about Maine's senators.

i am missing something in my tone I guess?

It's nothing you said.  I know you and all.  It is just an example of the kind of comment that walks a fine line and might get all of the attention rather than the substance of criticism.  For example, someone might say "why did you make a point in your title to say 'Ms. Bachmann is Nuts' and not just 'Bachmann is Nuts.'  You would have probably titled a similar blog 'Romney is Nuts' and not 'Mr. Romney is Nuts.'"

Just remember what happened to Biden when he said:

"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man."

Thanks for the kind words Oxy.

But damn! I assume you do not have to take this 'home remedy' every day! But it is interesting is it not that we find our own solutions by trial and error? Doctors really have never done a damn thing for me. hahahah

Scanning pupils? For over the counter? What are kids getting high on Advil?

One of my oldest, and smartest, friends spells her name 'Michele'. And then there's that singer:

Oh I just hate spelling. hahahah

It is a beautiful name no matter how it is spelled. Paul McCartney taught me that and so has the First Lady.

I think I edited that part out anyway!

Well, this thread certainly got a bucket of cold water poured on it ...  I have great respect for Ramona and the others who expressed concern, but I found the concern somewhat confusing. Was this blog (and comments) meant as a serious, reasoned scholarly treatise discussing Ms Bachmann's fitness (or lack thereof) for office or was it meant as a visceral, stream of consciousness, cathartic (and intentionally comedic) rant?  I took it as the latter.  Sorry, if I assumed incorrectly.  And if the comments in this thread tend to preach to the choir, so what?

    Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeen! ha

since I was the one that brought up the choir - I didn't saying preaching to the choir is a bad thing or a thing to avoid, merely when we do that we keep in mind there are those floating above who have not yet joined the choir and could be influenced to do so by what they read here.  Or they could also read something that confirms for them the justification to tune out those on the left.  I for one do not believe the choir nationally is as big as it should be.  Of course one shouldn't write solely for the intent of converting the unconverted, nor should one not criticize folks like Bachmann simply to please those on the other side.  It's an imperfect balancing act.

And even intentionally comedic rants occur in the real world with real world implications.  People are easily offended, and I am sure someone could put together a library of satiric blogs that people felt went over the line.  Everyone has a least one sacred cow or one topic that they just don't feel should be made light of.  And there are some topics in which one must tread carefully - just as one must be careful using Obama's race as pivot for satiric effect, one must also be careful when its comes to Bachmann's gender.  It doesn't mean one can't go there, but don't be surprised when people take offense, or have a concern, etc.

So basically, you're saying we should be responsible. Well, yeah ... I understand that and have always assumed it was a given both on this forum and in Life.  Although, we all know that people who want to be offended will always be able to find a reason to be offended.

Personally, I think people on the internet are often too easily offended. Not being able to  hear a writer's vocal inflections can often lead people to jump to erroneous conclusions about the writer's intent and attitude.

And of course we need to tread carefully on certain topics, put at the same time, readers need to cut writers a little slack.  As you say, it's a balancing act.

You bring up such an important topic that it haunts me!

I have spent about 40 hours this year listening to tapes of comics like Louie CK, Patton Oswalt, Bill Burr and others.

Pat and Bill both used the N word.

Bill was actually funnier as far as the line because he was quoting his 90 year old grandmother. hahahahaha  An avowed racist. hhahahaah

But Pat, who was quoting some imaginary southern racist got a better response. Bill was booed.

What are the limits for these guys who started out receiving $25.00 fees for 30 minutes of standup?

They learned their trade after a decade but they are gambling every time they hit the stage.

I like this site. I mean its all I got except for Paradigm and you are correct in your assessment of readership.

Two weeks after doing a blog at Paradigm, I was called Hitler. hahahahaha

I do think about this. I mean impressions are everything. That was a fault I have always carried with me.

On the other hand, I do wish to do no harm, as impossible as that can be.

I am just suggesting that you, my favorite philosopher do a blog on limits.

See ourselves as others see us!

Now my moods change faster than the chemical make-up of butter on a hot skillet. Sometimes I wish to do no harm and other times I love the stream. The stream gives me life!

Do a blog on this. When Ramona questions my wording, I get worried. Same as when you do so.

    Just a thought!

It is an interesting topic with no one true answer.  On one hand, if things are going to change we need to push things to the edge.  But sometimes we go over the edge.  Not that we'll all agree upon when that truly agrees.  Does make things interesting.  In the world of politics we get all kinds of "clean and articulate" and "macaca" moments.  Artists, whether stand-ups, bloggers, novelists, performance artists, etc etc are going to have their moments.

I think on a site such as this where you have a serious pieces alongside total satiric pieces and everything in between, the lines getting even blurrier, than say if it was The Onion's website where nothing is taken seriously.

Maybe I will do a blog on it after I get this other one I've been struggling with.  My first blog here at Dag did address this issue from one angle: Koran Burning and Other Performance Art.

Not to beat a dead horse but I remember this!

Using excrement to 'paint' a portrait. hahahah

Burning a Koran or a Bible or any sacred text.

I was thinking of this in the context of the NY gay rights law. Right after it is passed some idiots ran around with their ass cheeks showing--I mean like that does a lot of good things for the cause! ha

Yeah, that old blog hits on the issue for heavens sake.

My first introduction to the internet three years ago caused me to swear all the time. hahahahah I was sooooooo very angry.

    So I toned it down...

After I was thrown out of some blog sites. hahahaha

And why call everybody Hitler? Beck loved to do that.

Any rate....go ahead. It will be fun the way you pose the issues. ha

What's kind of sad is to consider that presumably there are still* people who are born with the last name of Hitler. Imagine what life must be like for them!

*I say "still", because I think I remember hearing of people who changed their last name just for that reason.

Reminds me of that scene in Celluar when Ryan (Chris Evans) asks Jessica Martin (Kim Basinger) what her son's name was and she says "Ricky."  He stops and goes "Ricky Martin? You named your kid Ricky Martin?"  HAHAHAHA

Oh there was a favorite crime show of mine decades ago. Crime Blue or some such.

In one of the episodes this guy wanted to be a comic but his name was Hitler and nobody wanted to put his name on the marquis. hahahahaha

Everytime he was confronted with his stupidity in keeping the name he would exclaim--

Adolf's real name was Shoepenhouer. hahahahah

I mean Adolf was a bastard anyway--his mom did not marry his dad and his dad decided at a later date to change his name to Hitler....oh who cares? hahahahah

    Schicklgruber.

I think that was mom's name. hahahahaha

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolf_hitler

A rose by any other name or language:

Here is Clip 2 of Hitler's Moustache

    This is goooooooooood stuff. hahahahaha

I assume Hitler did not appear on the marquis. hahaha

Oh, don't mind me, DD.  It's just that I've been hearing nothing but the migraine business about Bachmann for a while now when there are so many other things I would rather be attacking her about.  And I got a little bent out of shape when you called her bi-polar and nuts, etc., as that's in the forefront in our family these days.  Sadly.

Sorry to throw cold water on your blog.  Totally unfair on my part.  Carry on, please.

Oh for heavens sake! You did not throw cold water on me. hahahahaha

I just related that somebody waited a fortnight to call me Hitler on another site. hahahaha

No you just do what you do and that is to remind us (me) of some sort of standard for courtesy.

Besides, I edited this mess before I read your original comment.

I have not, I promise you, given up on courtesy common or not. hahaha

I read your blog last night to my son right after you posted it.  We laughed and I learned from him that IT was called internal trigger.  His friend would tell him that he has reached his trigger and needs "meds and a bed."  Everyone already knew it was coming because he got nutty a few hours before.

    hahahaahah

    Hi Momoe. hahahah

Having a migraine headache is an awful thing to go through. I have very little experience with them myself, but I did have a cousin that would call me occasionally and ask me to pick him up from work after one would "balloon" in his head, as he explained it, being unable to drive himself home because of the pain. Sometimes I would drive him directly to the hospital emergency room.

So, as much as I dislike Rep. Bachmann's political views, I am sorry to learn she gets these debilitating headaches.

    But, it makes me wonder....

The articles say she had to curtail some functions to seek treatment at nearby hospitals.

She had/has health insurance, I am sure, to cover that expense. A single trip to the ER adds up to hundreds, even thousands, of dollars. Three Maxalt tablets (a migraine medication) can cost a $100. Three pills!

However, migraine headaches afflict all socio-economic groups. They are an equal opportunity offender.

How can Rep. Bachmann justify receiving and paying for medical treatment for her own migraine headaches while that same ability for others afflicted with the same condition is denied simply because they cannot afford the premiums to pay for health insurance of their own?

She has stated that she is on a Teabagging mission to destroy the Affordable Care Act so that the less affluent have virtually nothing between them and medical treatment. That $100 for three pills can yank a working stiff's budget out of whack for months.

How can Rep. Bachmann be unsympathetic to those who suffer the same painful symptoms as she? Is it because she thinks poor people aren't good enough to warrant the help?

Why is it okay with her for the working poor to be in debilitating pain because the cost of health insurance is out of reach for them, or that the cost of needed treatment is artificially high?

One would think there would be some empathy from her. Wouldn't one?

    Just wondering...

Well Flower you already know that there are deeply committed Christians who are not part of any teaparty movement who asked this question.

I think Bachmann's universe is one in which those who do not give themselves to Christ will suffer for their sins and do not deserve treatment.

Otherwise, if you do not accept this Pat Robertson approach to life, there is only chaos.

I think she has the perspective that the poor will always be with us and those poor deserve to be poor! There is tragedy in all of this.

Yeah, I reckon that WWJD? campaign didn't work out so well after all.

Perhaps she's operating under a version of the "God helps those that help themselves" theory, which, extrapolated out, says that if God hasn't helped you, then you obviously haven't been helping yourself, so you're a slacker, and therefore, you deserve to suffer. This group's mottos are : "If God hasn't seen fit to help you, why are you bugging me?" and "Petitioners whom God has already turned down, need not apply."

Hey, Richard, here's someone who agrees with you and Wattree.

I must have gone through 40 links before I wrote this; and this is the best link or one of the best that I have read discussing this 'voice' bullshite.

    Thank you.

My problem, as if people have not figured it out, is that I get lost in my arguments and mislink at times or even leave a direct link out of my post. hahahaha

I get away with it because my audience is small and knows about my deficits and understands what a rant is. hahahah

This link of yours along with Taibbi's and some news links I think back me up in my silly assessments! ha

Obviously she won't be president.  We can hope her campaign remains active long enough that she can't run for re-election, and, in the meantime mess up Gov Romney.

In any event, she truly is evil incarnate, though representative of many of our fellow citizens in this land.  Her mission in life has been to reform her nominal husband (who, btw, is proof that gay people can in fact marry without destroying the institution with it, though apparently, they have to marry members of the opposite sex, which defeats the purpose, I think.)

Her platform is that the dumbasses are entitled to representation, but I really think they are over-represented in Congress already.  (Louis Gomert alone puts them over the top).

(who, btw, is proof that gay people can in fact marry without destroying the institution with it, though apparently, they have to marry members of the opposite sex, which defeats the purpose, I think.) hahhahaha

Okay, its a new day so I must hereby render unto Barth the Dayly Line of the Day Award for this here Dagblog site, given to all of him from all of me! hahahahah

Remember when Liberace won that libel case in England? ha
