    TPM AWARDS

                                                  SENATOR JOSEPH LIEBERMAN

This weekend I was surfing as usual since I have no life and found this at TPM:

Today we're announcing the categories in which we'll award prizes.

    They are ...

I have no idea what this contest is about but I decided that I could use the strange headings to give out my own awards.  I got  the idea that the 'contest' was for the paid staff here. At any rate, why wait? So here are some of my conclusions concerning who should be getting 'awards' and I hope my friends here chime in on one or more of the categories.

    Meritorious Achievement in The Crazy.

Millions of White House emails that went missing during the Bush administration have been recovered following an extended court battle.

Around 22m messages spanning more than 90 days were declared missing in 2007, shortly after a scandal arose over the decision to fire nine federal prosecutors who had not toed the White House line.

The Obama administration said that its computer technicians had successfully recovered the lost data, in what campaigners called a victory in the attempt to clear up the "electronic data mess" left behind by Bush officials.

The White House is legally obliged to maintain copies of all the communication it sends, including email, under the Presidential Records Act - brought in after the Watergate scandal in the 1970s as a way of preserving evidence of activities conducted by presidential staffers. http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2009/dec/15/bush-emails-recovered

The way I read this, Cheney and Rummy and those involved in the Nixon Administration during the age of Watergate had come up with some conclusions during that scandal.

Pat Buchanan, an admitted NAZI sympathizer, has often opined that the Nixon tapes should have been  burned on the White House lawn and he is not the only one who believes this.

I think Cheney found out along with others who were around during those days of yore got a little upset about this Valerie Plame hit. I say hit, because Cheney intentionally outed Plame. I have in the past and would love to underline why I have concluded this fact in the future. He wrote on the newspaper article his discontent over Plame's husband's conclusion regarding Saddam and nuclear armaments and Cheney was pissed.

    I think they all said:

    FUCK THIS

And then they destroyed millions of emails, thereby covering up a multitude of sins.

And the new techies in the New Administration were watching CSI one day and said:

    FUCK THIS?

And they resurrected millions of emails that will be scanned and read for eternity.

    Hahahahahah

This folks, is crazy in my tiny mind; the kind of crazy I JUST LOVE. HA

    Best Public Policy-based Fib.

I]n the interview, Mr. Lieberman said that he grew apprehensive when a formal proposal began to take shape. [...]
And he said he was particularly troubled by the overly enthusiastic reaction to the proposal by some liberals, including Representative Anthony Weiner, Democrat of
New York, who champions a fully government-run health care system.

"Congressman Weiner made a comment that Medicare-buy in is better than a public option, it's the beginning of a road to single-payer," Mr. Lieberman said. "Jacob Hacker, who's a Yale professor who is actually the man who created the public option, said, 'This is a dream. This is better than a public option. This is a giant step.'"   http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/12/15/lieberman-liberal-enthusi_n_392887.html

The way I read this new epiphany, Lieberman is acting this way out of pure spite. He could give one goddamn about public health or the tens of thousands dying every damn year for lack of health care. HE IS STILL MAD AT CONNECTICUT AND NATIONAL LIBERALS AND HE WISHES TO HURT THEM VERY BADLY.

This is a policy based fib by Lieberman. Every damn time he opens his mouth about filibusters, about health care, he is fibbing.

No wonder they call him Liarman.

Best Scandal -- Sex and Generalized Carnality

One woman is talking to Tiger Woods who isn't saying she slept with him: Oprah. The queen of talk has "personally reached out," according to the New York Daily News. Over the weekend, the number of women claiming to have slept with Tiger since his marriage grew to seven, including a porn star and a waitress at a Perkins eatery, who claims the golf star liked to spank her.Read it at New York Daily News

The funniest part of this story is not that we will soon find out that Woods most probably has had thousands of encounters with the opposite sex. I mean the guy is another Wilt the Stilt Chamberlain who claimed 10,000 liasons.  And in Wilt's time, this meant:

    Where the white women at?

And its not just the picture of Tiger's wife bashing him with a nine iron.

And it's not the loss of tens of millions of dollars in income from corporate sponsors.

Now we have a link to drugs. Heavy pain killing drugs. The kind of drugs that people sell on the street. As far as I am concerned, not different at all from cocaine or heroine.

And now we have a link between Tiger and a Canadian doctor who was just arrested for administering steroids to athletes.

THIS HAS BECOME A REAL, BIG TIME SCANDAL.

Does it affect citizens like the bank scandals? No.

Should I give a damn? No

But golfers have been hinting about steroid and other performance enhancing drugs in the PGA for a few years now. And here is the fodder.

Will Tiger end up as the Barry Bonds of golf?

I hope not because Tiger has turned the single most racist sport in the world on its head. And if Tiger is shown to have used performance enhancing drugs, this could all be erased.

The side story here is that there are golf groupies on the PGA tour and the caddies act as pimps. As if know one would have guessed that rich white men who travel a lot do not get a lot of poon tang.

    Best Scandal -- Local Venue

PHOENIX, AZ -- Sheriff Joe Arpaio, famous for his aggressive prosecution of illegal immigrants, has become mired this week in a whirlwind of back-and-forth accusations, investigations, indictments, arrests, and general animosity between warring factions of local politicos in Maricopa County, the fifth largest county in the country. Disputes have become so overheated that Sheriff Arpaio has been barred by one judge from searching the home of another judge.

Arpaio, equally loved and despised by anti-immigration and pro-immigration activists respectively, is known as "America's Toughest Sheriff" for his hard line stance on immigration lawbreakers and his tent-based jails.

Last week, Thomas and Arpaio alleged in a RICO (racketeering) suit that Stapley, Wilcox, Judge Gary Donahoe, Judge Barbara Mundell, another judge, attorney Tom Irvine, and attorney Ed Novak have engaged in "a pattern of using their offices to benefit themselves" and have conspired to hinder the investigation and block the prosecution of conflicts of interest related to a new $347 million court tower. Then on Wednesday, after Judge Donahoe refused to recuse himself and just hours before Donahoe was set to hear a case that could have resulted in Thomas being barred from prosecuting county officials (i.e., Stapley and Wilcox), Thomas and Arpaio filed criminal charges against Donahoe for bribery, obstructing a criminal investigation, and hindering prosecution.

Much of the current back-and-forth between warring local political factions in November 2008 when Arpaio and Thomas first indicted Stapley on 188 criminal co

I have hated this sheriff since he first appeared on 60 minutes. They have these tent prisons in Arizona and treat prisoners like stray dogs; stray dogs with no ASPCA to review the goings on in those tent prisons. When I saw the green bologna being served to the troops, listened to this sheriff spouting about proper retribution for law breakers, and sneering about how he could put things right; I knew that I was witnessing a NAZI at work. This sheriff could have run detention centers in Germany in the thirties for sure.

Now Sheriff Arpaio has the judiciary and other arms of the government in Arizona coming after him; as well as the FBI. Arpaio has flown too close to the sun and my prediction is that he goes down.

    Best Scandal -- General Interest

I will not really call this the 'best scandal'; but the biggest scandal in this country is that Dick Cheney walks around as a free man.

This man should have been indicted, tried and executed. And yet he walks free. He walks as a rich man. And he is given time on MSM to continually spout his lies.

    Outstanding Achievement in Corruption-based Chutzpah

This award goes to the banks, the mortgage companies, Wall Street bottom feeders and the capitalists who destroyed millions of jobs, took away millions of homes and who stand in the way of  keeping a middle class in this country.

You want Chutzpah? The people who destroyed the middle class in this country are paying themselves hundreds of billions of dollars in bonuses. Bonuses they never could have afforded because THEY WOULD NOT HAVE THEIR JOBS BUT FOR TAXPAYER MONEY.

The amount of bonuses last year, the amount of bonuses this year and the amount of bonuses for years to come point to one thing:

THIS SYSTEM, THE ENTIRE ECONOMIC SYSTEM MUST BE DESTROYED...NOW.

    And a new one instituted.

The deadline for nominations is is suposedly December 18th. I have no idea what this means.
This blog is just for our little band of merry Cafe visitors.

Versha came and weighed in on this, underlining that people can make nominations and send them in. Since her comment might be lost among the others, I  have cut and pasted it here:

dickday! I'm disappointed. You don't know what the Golden Dukes are?? Classic TPM -- this is the third year we're having them, and I have no idea why you would think the contest was for paid staff only! It's based entirely on TPM reader nominations.

Josh includes this in his post, but just in case -- explanation of what the Golden Dukes are and last year's winners are here
