Well at least the British media is on to the Koch brothers as climate deniers, while our media is worrying about sex scandals and ACA repeals.
This is a good read of how we are being compared to a pea.
For those concerned about climate change, the ultra-conservative Heartland Institute offers up a calming solution: try thinking of yourself as a pea, instead of a human. Peas in a lab sprouted faster with extreme concentrations of carbon dioxide, the greenhouse gas mainly responsible for climate change than under normal growing conditions, Heartland said.

Wait a minute, I thought we were back on the premise that it's not happening. They really need to coordinate their denial…

I guess they can't lie about that anymore with all the weather changes and ice melts. So they are going to lie about how good it is for us. We will adapt and not die off. Then there is always the group that is looking forward to the rapture.

Well, there are definitely several strategies out there for denying climate change:
And, of course, sometimes they like to use multiple of these at the same time.

Sounds like the CO2 will make us procreate, grow, age, and die faster.

Kudzu will take over the planet before we have time to develop the ability to digest it.

Nope. The UN released a report March 30 from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The report was pretty bleak in what damage to expect from climate change. Last week the Guardian covered it.

The report came from 300 scientist and was 32 volumes. It was the result of 3 years work and grew into this big report.

The bottom line of the article:
At least that saves me having to read all 2600 pages of the 32-volume report.
Without having read the Koch report either, from what you have said and the excerpts you quoted, it sounds like both are saying Climate Change is a given and we have to learn to live with it. One report says look at all the good things that might happen; the other says look at all the horrible things that will happen. Human nature being what it is, is it really surprising that some people prefer to be hopeful?
Not that prophets of doom are never useful. Sometimes they can scare enough people into changing their ways and avoid doom but then they are disbelieved retroactively.
Timing of prophecies is important as well. Too soon and too much harping will tend to make people tune out. Too late and then efforts would be better directed at figuring out what to do after the event, assuming there is an after.
Just musing. I am not a doubter but I do wish the conversation would move on from the 'is not' versus the 'is too' stage.

That takes tough minded leadership. This is a subject that is complicated and hard to wrap your head around. But we are going to face the facts this decade because of extreme weather and food shortages.

As I was digging deeper into this today, I found this blog that explained who the morons were that wrote this report for Koch Bros. front group Heartland Institute. I guess this was part of their effort in educating the public that Charles declared in his op-ed last week. They new the UN had this panel working on the effects of climate change. So they made up their own report using almost the same acronyms (NIPCC) to confuse and to make it seem official. They released it after IPCC report came out. It is rather interesting how Kochs bank roll these charlatans.

This article is a good read. It gets into how much they were paid to do this. You would think MSM would pick up on something like this and run with it. I probably should of done a blog on this but didn't realize what all was going on here.
