Okay...
As I've said many times in my various threads. is one of my old favorite Navy sayings...
"One-Thousand atta-boys wiped out by one aw-shit!"
Is this an unfortunate "aw-shit" or a positive "atta-boy?"
Let's all try and spin this one into a positive.

Clinton: Half of Trump’s supporters fit in ‘basket of deplorables’

Man, if we have learned one thing from the bitter clingers , (not to mention the 47%) those damn moments at the fundraiser when you are "all in this together" (and hardy-har-har what a bunch of losers those other guys are...) never sound as clever the morning after.
That said, the cited prior gaffes were in primary season, you are spozed to be (dare we say this about HRC?) more careful in the general.
Not to rule out the eleventy dimensional dimension...do it on purpose to crank up the volume on your own side and rile up Trump (remember how he went after McCain for the cuckoo birds, that was what he cited as causing the no war hero trope)

Clinton: It was wrong to call half of Trump supporters 'deplorable'

Hillary sent a needed message to her core voters and some Independents. The media has pretended that Trump did not discriminate against blacks seeking housing. Media ignored Trump's hiring a white supremacist and the admiration Trump receives from David Duke and others. Her core supporters get what she said. The media will again broadcast that they are feckless cowards. Instead of addressing Trump's racism, they will criticize Clinton for speaking the truth.
Trust in the media is lower than whale feces. Matt Lauer proved that media will allow Trump to lie. Chris Wallace telegraphs that it is not his job to point out lies told by candidates in the debates. Hillary assured her supporters that she knows Trump and the feelings of many of his supporters. I repeatedly note that Martin Luther King Jr. said that a person of good conscience could not vote for Barry Goldwater. Our current media would openly attack King and let Goldwater off the hook.

Hi rmrd0000 ...
Not that I disagree with your overall take...
I don't live in a bubble. I've heard all of this crap over and over and over. But I also don't ever recall MLK, Jr ever framing anything in his speeches to refer to anyone as a "basket of deplorables." He was a hell of lot smarter and more guardedly eloquent than that.
Different strokes for different folks.
if it makes one feel good, I guess.

I understand your reservations. The truth is that Trump supporters know that Trump is a racist. The best view of Trump supporters is that only 50% have negative views of blacks.
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-race-idUSKCN0ZE2SW
The other 50% of Trump supporters are willing to remain silent and not challenge the racists.
Two-thirds of Trump supporters think that Obama is Muslim.
http://www.rollcall.com/news/politics/poll-two-thirds-trump-supporters-t...
Hillary just shined a light on the truth.
Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, Kellyanne Conway, etc. are the people Martin Luther King Jr. described.
by rmrd0000 on Sat, 09/10/2016 - 8:56pm
MLK was a preacher, working through a very tough LBJ who wanted to leave a legacy and had to convince a reluctant Congress to pass it.
Driftglass in 2006:
We are taught to abhor authoritarianism. Our whole government is an exercise in the division and dissipation of power and the creation of strong, interlocking safeguards to protect us against the rise of a One Party/Dear Leader State.....and these are the very safeguards and traditions that the GOP is working assiduously to destroy. Moderate voters.. who are kept carefully shielded from the truth ...are genuinely horrified when the Core of the GOP. is suddenly exposed and they are forced to face with eyes wide open the naked, roaring, venomous, unreconstructed filth that actually fuels....the Conservative’s Pretty Hate Machine.
by NCD on Sat, 09/10/2016 - 10:17pm
Trump voters know what they are. They just don't like being called out. Democrats have adapted to a double standard. Obama had to address Jeremiah Wright. The media made sure that Jeremiah Wright stuck to Obama. The mainstream media refuses to continue to go after Trump for housing discrimination, birtherism, and hiring a white supremacist. Democrats have to stop being timid.
The Democratic standard is to shut down the Clinton Foundation because it looks bad. Trump paid off the Florida AG through a "charity" and lied about the transaction. The Trump campaign does not have to go through the media gauntlet Hillary faced.
I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. Every one of Trump's surrogates deflect to attacking Hillary when the actions of Trump are questioned. Trump will not release his taxes. Obama had to release his full form birth certificate.
People who are going to vote for Trump know what Trump represents.
by rmrd0000 on Sat, 09/10/2016 - 11:08pm
NCD ... Geez... Well I'm confused . . .
Even after being jettisoned by LBJ MLK Jr never wavered from his principles, preacher or not
So I can only speculate that those folks in the "basket of deplorables" don't fall under the umbrella of what Hillary said in own words at the Democratic Convention.
She appears to wish to have it both ways...

Obama was the President of all of us, including the deplorable contingent who called for his failure and one term only, and those who still believe he's a Muslim Kenyan usurper. The GOP calls liberals all kinds of names which I won't bother to list.
by NCD on Sun, 09/11/2016 - 1:47am
Love the sinner, not the sin. A Big Tent doesn't have to accommodate the scum of the earth until they stop scumming. They're welcome to stand outside behind the flap and listen to the sermons though.
And Hillary's not running for the MLK award - she's the one who implied manna will not fall from heaven, and that reaching across the aisle would likely be rebuffed. So far she's still doing a pretty good job of attracting Republican security and ex-administration professionals - and that's not even accounting for the 50% of Trump supporters who presumably aren't insane. You go, girl....
by PeraclesPlease on Sun, 09/11/2016 - 3:09am
Hillary knew that MSM was not up to the task of holding Trump's feet to the fire. There is a fear that a Trump will be able to lie at will during the debates.

Folders full of women, baskets full of deplorables, a few fries short of a Happy Meal - collectivization instead of classism in America.
I don't believe Romney's 47% comment actually hurt him (he finished close as a fairly weak and uninspiring candidate). Hillary's made it clear she'd be President for everyone, but she's not going to carry their bag or their baggage. "Come to me as little children" should be the easiest thing in the world for these yokels, as they never grew up. She's not even asking them to give up all their possessions, just their cherished prejudice.
Sometimes half a loafer is good enough - they've been living on wish sandwiches a long time.
I also think it's good for Hillary to dominate the news with something more positive and values-focused rather than more all-about-Trump, which has been letting voters get used to and immune to him, the new normal.

Clinton's 'deplorable' outburst about Trump supporters and Americans who don't support her was the boost that Trump needed to rally his base and attract new voters who will respond to her demeaning and divisive language.
This was the nasty outburst of a loser or someone who isn't thinking clearly and along with her collapse at the 9/11 event is going to be impossible to spin into anything useful for Clintonites.
I didn't put much stock in the claims about her behavior, drug use or other mental health problems because i thought she has always displayed these odd behaviors and was unfit to hold any high office. I noticed a few days ago that Clinton had gained a huge amount of weight and now this illness shows that something is happening to her physically. Pneumonia is a symptom of a compromised immune system and the weight gain could be either a reaction to a new drug or withdrawal from an old one.
I don't want illness to remove Clinton from this contest she and her ilk need to be publicly defeated and rejected.

I actually thought that Peter would be against everybody running this year. Trump has chased young black, Latino, and Asian voters away from the GOP. He cemented the GOP as the angry white people's party. The GOP will double down when it is on the wrong side of history. Democrats can at least be shamed into taking action, like we see with the pipeline on government and Indian land dispute.
by rmrd0000 on Mon, 09/12/2016 - 2:04pm
Peter you are the last person at Dag to give an objective view on the 'Red Borg Queen'.
She has a walking pneumonia treated with a 5 day course of azithromycin.
Rest can cure the condition on its own, but a erythromycin related bacteriostatic antibiotic that blocks formation of the bacterial cell wall usually clears it up within days.
by NCD on Mon, 09/12/2016 - 12:18pm
Peter is unaware that walking pneumonia happens as a function of being exposed to crowds on a repeated basis. Schools, military bases, etc. are among the pools of people where walking pneumonia occurs. Those individuals effected have normal immune systems.

by NCD on Mon, 09/12/2016 - 4:59pm
I don't need the BBC to inform me about pneumonia I've had it and it developed because my immune system was compromised after a heart attack. Everyone except the Bubble Boy is exposed to this bacteria their whole life but it's rare for a healthy individual to develop this condition. Clinton should recover with rest and treatment but her underlying health problems are now exposed.
With Trump's daily exposure to the masses of 'deplorables', which is not even a recognized word, he should have double-pneumonia by now.
I just received a fundraising robo-call from the Trumpeteers warning of the dangers of electing a Low-Energy and Crooked Hillary to a job that will require stamina and vigor. They didn't say one nasty divisive thing about hard working voters who have to make this decision.
by Peter (not verified) on Mon, 09/12/2016 - 4:22pm
It is not rare for healthy people to get walking pneumonia.
Here is the American Lung Association noting that healthy people get pneumonia
http://www.lung.org/lung-health-and-diseases/lung-disease-lookup/pneumon...
Here is WEBMD noting healthy people can get pneumonia
http://www.webmd.com/lung/tc/pneumonia-what-happens
Your isolated case does not negate the fact that healthy people without lung disease, diabetes, heart disease, etc. get pneumonia.
You are voting for a man admired by white supremacists and who made a white supremacist CEO of his campaign. You are faced with the same dilemma that Barry Goldwater supporters had when he ran for President. Goldwater catered to white supremacists by supporting state's rights. Trump supports voter suppression.
by rmrd0000 on Mon, 09/12/2016 - 4:33pm
Like so many people who don't bother to read or study peter believes that his personal experience can be directly extrapolated to the two million people who get pneumonia every year. He doesn't need to read anything about the disease or to know if his experience was typical or unusual.
by ocean-kat on Mon, 09/12/2016 - 6:36pm
Thanks, OK you just provided the stats to prove my assertion about the rarity of this condition. 2 Million cases out of a population of 300 million is about .6 %, notice the decimal point.
This is a relatively rare condition and even rarer for healthy people and with Clinton already in the age group that are more susceptible due to age related illnesses.
I just read that Clinton was already under treatment for pneumonia before her collapse so her actions ignoring her doctors orders to rest and recover show more poor decision making abilities that just adds to her already existing long list of poor choices.
by Peter (not verified) on Mon, 09/12/2016 - 9:53pm
Peter, you confirmed that Trump supporters should not be allowed anywhere near anything important. You expanded the discussion to all cases of pneumonia not just walking pneumonia. You call the disease rare, ignoring the impact of the disease. Infectious disease specialists would inform you that the rare disease is the eighth leading cause of death in the United States. Half of hospital admissions for pneumonia are under retirement age. Half of all deaths from pneumonia are under retirement age.
https://www.thoracic.org/patients/patient-resources/resources/top-pneumo...
About 55K people die of this "rare" group of pulmonary infections. About 38K die in automobile accidents annually.

by rmrd0000 on Mon, 09/12/2016 - 10:59pm
Rare is a subjective term. You can use it if you like. There are 1.6 million new cases of all forms of cancer diagnosed each year so cancer is even rarer than pneumonia. The most common forms of cancer are breast cancer, lung and bronchus cancer, prostate cancer, colon and rectum cancer, bladder cancer, melanoma of the skin, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, thyroid cancer, kidney and renal pelvis cancer, leukemia, endometrial cancer, and pancreatic cancer. So I guess by your standard any form of cancer is exceedingly rare. Almost every disease can be called rare by your standard except perhaps the common cold, yet by the time a person is middle aged virtually everyone has had some disease that kills a percentage of those afflicted. Most people are generally considered healthy yet most still get some disease but I guess you could say no one is really healthy, by your standard.
by ocean-kat on Mon, 09/12/2016 - 11:42pm
The minutia of disease may be interesting to some people but in this case it is just another distraction from the real story of what is going on with the Red Queen. Besides her poor decision to ignore her doctor it appears she and her handlers decided to not inform the public about this important story in an almost conditioned need for secrecy and if she hadn't collapsed it would have probably remained a secret continuing her long history of lack of transparency. They even lied after the incident claiming she simply overheated on a mid 70 degree NY morning.
You would think these grifters would learn that lying and secrecy to cover up a story usually causes more problems than the the actual story but they never seem to trust the people to draw their own conclusions and continue with their manipulations, secrecy and lies.
by Peter (not verified) on Tue, 09/13/2016 - 12:30am
The absurdity of an all in Trump backer complaining about 'grifters' says it all about the world of delusion one must live in to fit that profile. The guy has been a grifter since the day he was born rich, out for absolutely no one but himself.
by NCD on Tue, 09/13/2016 - 12:41am
Someone famous got sick. Happens all the time. She pushed herself beyond her limits and disregarded her doctors advice. I've done that several times over the last 40 years. Bad judgment on my part? Maybe, but every one I know has gone to work sick now and then when they should have stayed home. You mean to tell me you've never gone to work sick? Important story for you maybe but for me it's much ado about nothing.
by ocean-kat on Tue, 09/13/2016 - 1:30am
Peter, these "grifters" are used to f*****ds like you who would greet her losing a leg with "see, I told you she didnt have a leg to stand on". You're a cold fish that seems to have gotten his pallor hanging around funeral parlors looking for bad news. Sadly, the press and even many democrats are only slightly warmer. If she had said she had pneumonia and dropped out for a couple days, they'd be shitting themselves like amateur Kremlinoligists trying to figure out if she had Parkinsons or a brain tumor instead - look at Julian Assange who couldnt wait to start wanking the news with a gleefully morbid little survey.
by PeraclesPlease on Tue, 09/13/2016 - 4:05am
2m cases a year is 30million in 15 years. Roughly 1 in 10 Americans will have a serious knockdown case of pneumonia (or not so serious - are we talking walking pneumonia or viral?) every 15 years, so not rare (yeah, the stats are flawed, but I'm dumbing it down for clarity).
Statistics keep on lying, as Big Data and social media lead to even bigger liars.
by PeraclesPlease on Tue, 09/13/2016 - 4:17am
At least Peter (not verified) has had personal knowledge of the disease, unlike you or Hillary.
My guess is that she's taking steroids (which is not the usual treatment for pneumonia), which would account for the changes in her appearance. It takes a while for steroids to affect your appearance; longer than the few days since her pneumonia "diagnosis".
by Lurker on Tue, 09/13/2016 - 4:00am
Wow, I haven't had cancer so I can't say anything about cancer. Why shut my mouth. Of course Hillary still doesnt understand pneumonia, because unlike Peter, she hasnt had a heart attack though she had a brain clot even though years ago - which pneumonia experience wins?)
As for the worries about contagion, ""Once on antibiotics, your child has a minimal risk of passing the illness on to other family members".
I've suspected Hillary was taking steroids to tone her voice down to please the people worried about her cackle, which explains the pants suits.
Jump off bridge this way ===================>
by PeraclesPlease on Tue, 09/13/2016 - 4:15am
Now how would you know that. I just don't use my personal experiences to define the whole so I rarely have any reason to announce them. I read to get my information about the world. But what you're doing is even worse than peter projecting his personal experience onto the two million others. You just make shit up.

Are you a physician or did you stay at a Holiday Inn like Dr. Drew Pinsky?
by rmrd0000 on Tue, 09/13/2016 - 8:02am
Roid Rage would explain her incoherent outburst damning voters and other reports of violent mood swings where she attacked her own people and her beefed up appearance. Kennedy was treated with steroids to mask his debilitating health condition and his weight gain made him look healthier because he was emaciated due to his illness. It's difficult to blame her recent behavior on a recent cause because she has long displayed these abnormal behaviors although a drug could be making them worse.
Mentioning someone's appearance is a taboo in PC Clinton World, unless it's about a republican, but in this case it is an indicator of something strange happening to the Red Queen.
by Peter (not verified) on Tue, 09/13/2016 - 11:33am
So how much of this is self-projection, since your medical history appears to be wide & deep? Anything that might explain your outbursts, incoherent arguments, sheer disgruntlement and disagreeableness? As we don't have a picture of you, do you look like a potato sack or Kate Moss in her heavy cocaine phase? Is it "Roid Rage" or "Rhoid Rage"? And would that make you also a Roid

Your pathetic attacks on Hillary magnify that you can find nothing positive to say about the orange-bigot.
