Not Paying Attention

I found a piece about actor Drew Carey really jarring recently, in which he admits to having attempted suicide on several occasions when he was younger. Drew Carey doesn't seem really depressed in his appearances publicly - he has appeared as a game show host prolifically and

Red Dwarf X!

I'm going to go out on a limb - and assume that most readers here are either fans of public broadcasting or tacitly approve of it. I'll go on another limb and assume readers here, being generally left leaning, are college educated and would appreciate the intelligent humor of the comedy Red Dwarf.

Elmo And A World Too Real

You can't make this stuff up:

Kevin Clash, the puppeteer behind the "Sesame Street" character Elmo, resigned on Tuesday following new allegations that he had sex with an underage boy, adding to an ongoing controversy involving one of America's most popular children's brands.

Twinkies - No Longer Made in U.S.A.?

Maybe it is my strange brain but I thought that this news story pretty much encapsulated globalization:

Who knew there were so many Twinkie diehards?

The Minority Party - That Hated Minorities

I have a friend on Facebook who is a libertarian leaning contrarian. I was alot like him before some recent life events - he touts free market economics, loves Paul Ryan and is at one enough with his own uniqueness that he doesn't mind touting such things while also being openly gay.

"Obama's Third Term"

I still get alot of mail in my inbox from my days as a conservative/libertarian. I've been struck by some of the stuff I have been getting since Obama got re-elected. This one from the Tea Party News Network really stuck out:

Dear Reader,

Most people believe the election was all about whether or not Obama will have a second term.

But it was not.

What was actually at stake was whether or not he will have a third-term.

Republican Diarrhea Of The Mouth

Republicans cannot stop themselves:

The head of the Maine Republican Party claims that “hundreds” of unfamiliar black voters may have cast fraudulent ballots in his state on Election Day.

Remembering Christopher Hitchens

CNN just had an interview with Carol Blue, dedicated to remembering the life of her late husband Christopher Hitchens. I love love loved Christopher Hitchens immensely for a very long time. Hitchens was a brilliant writer and his takedown of organized religion was needed immensely.

My breakdown while traveling abroad had my fondness for him all over it. When I went to school, I studied International Relations and my wanting to travel like I did wouldn't have happened if I hadn't gone in that field or idolized someone so well traveled.

Conservative Self-Parody In Overdrive

Honestly, the Onion could not make a better parody of conservatives than what they are making of themselves. Take this column by conservative Larry Klayman. This is just ridiculous:

Cleaning Out The Closet

Since I got my new apartment, I've done more than house clean. I've cleaned out my closet.

I wrote for a bunch of libertarian publications online for several years. While I was there, I wrote some reprehensible stuff - stuff that attacked people I still care about with little thought about their feelings.
