These are some real jerks that have no clue about nutrition. I bet half of them can't even program their ovens to come on.

Wisconsin did pass a bill Assembly Bill 177 but it required that they spend 2/3 of their benefits on foodstuff designated by the state as nutritional items.  They only banned the purchase of shell fish. 

This still makes it difficult to shop. It is really hard to stretch SNAP and this just makes it more complected. I would think that the allowance would not reach as well with this restriction.    

The original article had it wrong. I should of checked deeper into this while I was looking into poverty and food insecurity.  

People in poverty actually spend less on junk foods and make better choices then families that have the income to buy what they want. 

As you're probably beginning to notice, the singular momentum of the universe is one of moving from simplicity and chaos toward complexity and order. It's a very weird thing and perhaps the most intriguing thing about this place. There are people who think that all this happened by chance. Those people are called atheists. And there are people who think that there's some sort of being that made all this stuff and who is guiding it. They're called theists. Curiously it's mostly the theists who disbelieve all this business we've covered so far, even though, if you wanted to prove that the great being existed, the best place to look would be this weird desire the universe has for self-improvement.

So poor parents struggling just to cover basic food and shelter face both massive income inequality in their day-to-day lives, plus a seven-fold gap in the amount they can “invest” to help their children thrive in the future. Given that social mobility is already suppressed at all income levels—with children’s future earnings highly correlated with the earnings of their parents—the Herculean amount of “catch up” poor parents must undertake just to get on the same footing as their higher-earning peers makes the great American wealth gap seem even more devastating, for both today’s working households and generations to come.

I'm not familiar with this author or this publication, but he seems to have a lot of technical knowledge, and has worked for the US government.

The father of the dead toddler that washed up on a Turkish beach has been called a human trafficker by two passengers who lost love ones when the boat sank in heavy seas. Kurdi didn't have enough life jackets and 'used his son's lack of one to say they were not needed'. The sub-story darker side, of course, never makes the US press.

Robert Kennedy Jr. gave a speech at the Waterkeepers Alliance conference.  He gave it in a style that a Kennedy would do with hard hitting words that are the truth.  

“These are the apocalyptical forces of ignorance and greed. These are the four horsemen from the book of Revelations herding humanity toward a dystopian nightmare of their creation. Koch Industries is not a benign corporation. It’s a suicide pact for creation. It’s the archetype of ‘disaster capitalism.’ It’s the command center of an organized scheme to undermine democracy and impose a corporate kleptocracy that will allow these greedy men to cash in on mass extinction and the end of civilization.”

Kennedy went on to explain, “These men claim in their rhetoric to embrace a theology of free market capitalism. But if you look at their feet instead of listening to the seductive noises that issue from their mouths and their phony think tanks, the truth is clear. These men hate free markets. They want a system of cushy socialism for the rich and a savage, merciless capitalism for the poor. The real purpose of their ‘think tanks’ they created and fund—like the Heritage Foundation and the CATO Institute—is not to promote free market capitalism, but to gin up the philosophical underpinnings for a scheme of uncontrolled corporate profit taking. And the press, consolidated as it is into private monopolies, and relieved of social obligation are on the carbon and pharma pay role and in full cahoots with the scheme. They don’t love markets—they despise them. The Koch Brothers’ purpose in purchasing our political system is to engineer monumental subsidies and market failure, which are their formulae for profit.
