Biden Administration Proposes Roosevelt Style Interventions Keep Trucking Industry Afloat

Dagblog is a progressive blog, so it's a bit easy to forget that it's a bit more on the conservative Democrat end of the spectrum. I sent some stuff to a progressive publisher that I knew would win with folks here but they didn't like it. Here it is for you guys, especially artappraiser, I know you will like it.

If you know anyone willing to publish work like this, please let me know.

Comes to mind that one of the questions immigrants were asked at Ellis Island in the early 20th century was: Are you an anarchist?

    None Dare Call it Treason?

Ironic that the hysterical 1964 right wing screed, “None Dare Call it Treason” is flipped on it’s head with today’s right wing grifters and apparatchiks. The title is a quote from a 16th century Englishman.

In full it is 'Treason doth never prosper, what’s the reason? Why, if it prosper, none dare call it treason. ’ Treason has never been so lucrative as with the Republican Party today.

While AG Merrick Garland displays an unambiguous lack of will to call it, or hold it accountable as, treason.

    Bad Girls

I posted a story here on Dagblog about a shooting incident that occurred outside Garfield High School in Seattle, Washington, wherein a teenage girl had been found with bullet wounds in her legs. The incident happened at the same time that 5 shootings in full had been investigated by Seattle police, indicated a city that had become progressively more and more dangerous (despite being seen as a utopia by so many).

    [Trump/Jan6] Fortenberry, Flynn & FBI

As Politico (Gerstein) misleads on Flynn lies & impact, the Fortenberry case has both outrageous behavior of pols towards foreign political influence as well as possible FBI malfeasance/misleading a suspect.
As often the case, the truth can lie outside the claims of both sides.

    Antidepressant Criticism Finally Goes Mainstream

Michael Moore made a classic film about the subject of mass shootings, Bowling for Columbine, a problem that only got progressively more worse as time went on. In that movie, he was early to sound the alarm about the possibility that the Columbine shooters were powered by medication. The subject was off discussed after that, and the issue largely became about the guns so often used in these kind of incidents (which is also a serious issue).

How Amtrak Plans To Modernize Its Trains By 2030

Will Amtrak modernization help the United States finally catch up with just about every other developed country that has an extensive rail line?

I really like that the Biden administration and other people high up are putting money in to rail again. I think it's a return to how we traveled before the 1970s and an effort to catch up with all the other developed countries that have extensive rail lines.

Stupidity, a Basis for Political Power, Bonhoeffer

Excerpts from essay below. by Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

"Upon closer observation, it becomes apparent that every strong upsurge of power in the public sphere, be it of a political or of a religious nature, infects a large part of humankind with stupidity. It would even seem that this is virtually a sociological-psychological law. The power of the one needs the stupidity of the other. "

    SSRIs and Vaccine Hesitancy

People who have been at Dagblog long enough know that I was on it about antidepressants, the most popular being the serotonin stimulating SSRI drugs. I blogged about it heavily ten years ago and tied it to a mass shooting phenomenon that, certainly at that time, was at a very high level.

Many of the same companies, like Pfizer, which trade in pharmaceuticals, traded also in these vaccines. The government has pushed a sort of enforced competition with these vaccines, hand picking several favorite companies to compete with one another for contracts and acceptance by the public.

Just Like That, Facebook Is Over

By now, most of you have probably seen advertisements for "Meta," the new corporate name for Facebook, the social media monstrosity that has dominated millions (billions?) of lives for over a decade.

Just as that has occurred, several corporations have made a point of dumping Facebook publicly, including beauty supplier Lush:

Young Author Explains Why Millennials Are The Most Depressed Generation In The History Of The World

All that effort during that generation to desegregate. Now we have "intentional spaces" for "people of color," which will necessitate other spaces for people who aren't people of color. It's easy to mock woke ideology but none of its ideas would have gotten this far if they weren't appealing, and they appeal strongest in academia, where young people are, and apparently also in the military, where young people also are.

    Asking A Question Out Loud

    Something I have always wondered.

I am taking a Hillsdale College course called "The Second World Wars" online. The lecture is done by Victor Davis Hanson.

Something I am wondering. World War II was overseen by the most successful Democratic president in American history, Franklin D. Roosevelt. The success of the United States in that war demonstrates that Roosevelt's vision of central planning actually works. Roosevelt did not run a war the way that someone like George W. Bush did.

More On Seattle's Journey In To Hell

An evil city. A sewer of unacknowledged suffering and social catastrophe just waiting to happen:

Every night in Seattle, hundreds of children are sold for sex. The majority of these victims of coercion are young girls who, on average, first start “turning tricks” at 13 years old.
