Ever since I heard Dirty Minds and Controversy, I've been a big fan. "Annie Christian, Antichrist...."

In his article there are examples of people making 20 donations in a day and others exceeding by quite a bit, the legal limit for primaries.  How can it be?  

This was surprising to me, but it is but a flea on the ass of an elephant compared to what the GOP would come up with.  Bernie has been left alone because Republicans seriously don't want to run against Hiilary.  They have so much stuff on Bernie that they are keeping their powder dry.

Just imagine what it will be like at Mass this weekend in New York.  I say that because I was educated by Nuns and went to Mass almost everyday until I was 13 years old. It won't be political but there will be sermons on the theme of moral economy and ecology with prayer.

As we wail about the Googles, Amazons & Apples not paying their fair share, the truth is even uglier.

So how will government survive? At what point is the bathtub full and the patient not just found drowned but with slashed wrists?

So a young lady on a talent show says she doesn't agree with LGBT lifestyle, but

Although all of us may not agree with that particular lifestyle for religious reasons, whatever the reason is, you still treat each other with respect. Everybody is a human being. We should be able to coexist with one another.... I am one of the people who don’t really agree with that lifestyle. I wasn’t brought up that way. It wasn’t how I was raised. [But] a lot of friends and a lot of people that I love dearly who are gay and homosexual and they’re such sweet, nice people.... We should just respect each other’s differences and opinions and move on.

Apparently moving on was not in the cards or psychological makeup of the Huffpost and other crowds. La'Porsha instead was attacked as an "idiot" and "bigoted" and a host of other non-complimentary qualifiers.

Where do we get these attitudes, that everyone has to think exactly like us?

Or maybe exactly like us on hard complicated stuff, but they can choose the color of their car and favorite flavor of syrup?

You'd think that La'Porsha expressed tolerance in every way she could, and obviously if she already believed with a position, it's not "tolerance", it's agreement. She didn't insult LGBT's, she complimented them. She didn't ask for a wall - she said we should coexist and respect each other. And yet that's not enough - for many many people, not just 1 or 2 flamers. Somehow diversity always falls short of a diversity of ideas.

What hope is there for us to move forward? Why do we need such a rigid definition of taste and perception to accept anyone else? Rodney King didn't say "why can't we all just think alike?" - he asked "why can't we all just get along?" And it still bears repeating.

I got this link over at TPM.  It was posted by someone who greatly benefitted from its provisions when she worked as a Social Worker in NYC at that time because it increased the resources she could tap into.  It is very interesting, and I think, objective.  I didn't realize that Biden was far more involved in getting this though than anyone else.

The President once again proves his leadership qualities by reminding us all what's at stake.

“The thing Democrats have to guard against is going in the direction that the Republicans are much further along on, and that is this sense 'we are just going to get our way, and if we don’t, then we’ll cannibalize our own, kick them out and try again,' ” he said at a town-hall meeting with law students in Chicago. 

It's worth a read; he addresses and defends incrementalism in the context of Single Payer.

The danger, whether for Democrats or Republicans, is in a closed-loop system where everybody is just listening to the people who agree with them,” he said. 

“And that anybody who suggests there is another point of view ... well, then you must be a sellout or you must be corrupted or you must be on the take or what have you," he added. "That is not, I think, useful.” 

Good for him, and hopefully we'll all see a little of ourselves in this, and tone it down a bit.
