Only Once, Why Women Don’t Tell

In 1984, I learned about "only once." I lived in Glendale, Colorado, where I worked at a comedy club where Roseanne Barr often performed, in fact lots of pre-famous and famous comedians performed. It was a fun job and the tips were pretty good. I had a boyfriend at the time of course, and as usual I got off work late and met him at my apartment.

I don’t really know what happened to tell you the truth, but suddenly my jaw hurt, he punched me and I landed on the floor hard. He was screaming at me and I couldn’t speak. My jaw hurt, I was pretty sure he broke it. And again I don’t know what happened by suddenly I was hanging by my fingertips on the windowsill of my bedroom. I honestly don’t know how I got out there, I think he was trying to kill me, and he was pounding on my fingers of course I slipped. I lived on the third story of the building.  I’m sure the events to this day are not completely accurate, because I was already semi-conscious.

    IKE WON WWII

Ike ended up a procurement officer.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwight_D._Eisenhower

Sure, Ike was a soldier in the beginning of his career.

But someone said that an army travels on its stomach!

You know, this guy ended up winning the ETO.

    Go it ...

I entered this 3 times and someone did me favor of  deleting two of them.

One more time. I agreed with Chuck. And Nancy.

He cut  a spending deal. Fine .Do I wish it covered DACA. Sure

She  complained -for 8 hours in heels- because it did not cover DACA. Good for her.

Do I think either of them should be censured or removed? Hell no. We'll see what happens meanwhile the leader of my party is the leader of my party. And I support him. And her.

    This is how Democrats win

It looks like the Democrats have picked up a seat in the Missouri state house. 20-something Mike Revis won in a district that went for Trump by over 30 points. How'd he do it? He ran as a progressive populist. The first two of five issues at his website:

    1) "Support public education" over charter schools.

    2) "Defend the rights of working people" and oppose right to work which he calls a "bad idea pushed by corporations to lower wages."

Let us permit ourselves the pleasure of contemplating Bitten-in-the-Ass Trump, our new Mardi Gras pinata.

Two lines of inquiry are (deliciously) likely to flow from the experiment in auto-pedal marksmanship that brought forth the recent breathless drama.

    Don't reply to the Memo

    now

Right now  it's the only game in town. It will be discussed and where there are contrary unclassified facts available Schiff&Co can steer the media to them.

Once a Democrat rebuttal appears Fox etc  will be gratefully relieved of their knee jerk responsibility to defend the Memo and will shift to attacking the Democrat response.  Which is  why there shouldn't be one. Now.

    STATE OF THE UNION LIVE!

Not since the days of President Pierce or President Buchanan or President Jackson have Americans been more enamored by our Current Leader.

Tonight we shall be graced by the most inept English Speaker since George Bush Junior and yet, George W is looking better and better every damn day!

Did you ever hate someone so very very bad and question whether or not you are the mentally imbalanced and not the object of your vituperation?

So far only Melania is more pissed than I am?

    Good enough

I'm contradicting myself ( who cares?) but at risk of being seen as the most gullible voter on the East Coast I think the  shut down/end shut down  was a success.

I wrote last weekend that then  was the best point for Schumer to go to the mat - altho I believed it would cost us votes in November. Hal and others disagreed  about it costing us , who knows ?Now we won't because at least this shut down was a victim of infanticide.

    Support Schumer It's easy

Go on line. Go to his web site. Say you support him. I just did.

A million years ago, on Friday,  what I wanted  was for him to be " statesman like"  :agree with a one week delay in forcing a shut down. Not because I believed that would strengthen Chuck's negotiating position.  Since that 's what  McConnell proposed   clearly it was what McConnell  knew  was in  McConnell's  interests  Therefore  , not our's.

Yes kiddies, politics  is a zero-sum game.  Even so I wanted Chuck to" go along ". Because  that gave us our best shot at November.

    Was it worth it?

Shutting down the Government? Basically because of DACA ?

Yes because acting otherwise would have exposed us as posturing frauds, always on the side of right and truth and honor, etc. Except when the chips were down

Trump, Stormy Denials Tout Sanctity of Family at DC Rally

The annual March for Life in a biggest ever of all history DC rally was addressed by Trump and porn celebrities today.

Thrice married Donald Trump touted the sanctity of the family alongside Stormy Denials.

A famous porn star. Trump was adored by the fundamentalist evangelical crowd as a "porn-again Christian", willing to put his money where his mouth or other body parts are.

    THE GOVERNMENT SHUTS DOWN!

Today's events reminded me of an old blog I once wrote.

    http://dagblog.com/arts/zoo-10853

We are 54 minutes from shutting down the government.

    Vote total?

    50-49?

    Fortitude

As we seek to dig ourselves out of the moral and political abyss into which our country has sunk, it seems to me that two near-term projects are key.

These are to retake both chambers in Congress and to obtain the president's removal from office at the earliest possible time.

You can only play the cards in your hand

How much slack should we give to the democrats in Congress to cut a deal  with Trump? This week.

My guess is Donald is aiming for a two-for. Not only get his damn  fence  but also damage the Congressional Democrats by forcing them to approve an unsavory bill  as the price for preventing 700,000 DACA immigrants from being deported. Maybe even  save his majority if we're foolish enough.

    Probably figures he can't lose.

-If he get's his fence in exchange for a DACA reprieve  he's got his fence.

    Oprah for President?

After delivering a powerful speech at the Golden Globes, Oprah Winfrey is being touted as a potential Democratic Presidential candidate. In response, at least one liberal website - DailyKos - posted an article bashing her for allegedly supporting America's destruction of Iraq beginning March 2003. It is true that she aired a program in October 2002 that was light on facts and heavy on pro-war propaganda.

But to Oprah's credit in the months immediately preceding "Shock and Awe," she gave significant time to anti-war activists like Phil Donahue. She earned Michael Moore's praise for televising a 1980s photo of Donald Rumsfeld shaking Saddam Hussein's hand.

    Reactions to The Golden Globes?

Overall, very cool, I thought, for the #metoo theme of the night.  IF we change our cultures--and our public policies--to make them far more just, safe, and supportive for women, last night may be viewed as an event of significance in fostering such change.

    A few miscellaneous reactions:

    All together now

    Sunday Times photo:

Donald at the rostrum. Sort of normally dressed, shirt ,tie, jacket, trousers not visible but probably pressed.

Behind him nine men and one woman "top congressional Republicans and administration officials".Each man scuffed shoes, unpressed trousers ,tieless.  What a coincidence! Not even one of them decided to wear a tie. Or any one of the dozens of pressed trousers in his wardrobe. Imagine that.

Or wasn't it a coincidence?  Short answer "nope ".

LET THE AIRING OF THE GRIEVANCES BEGIN

Yes, it is Festivus, so it is time for the annual Airing of the Grievances. I shall begin.

    1. I have more doors to paint, this has been going on for more than one month. It's my own fault really I am the one who decided we should replace all the doors and trim in the house, but how did I know you could no longer hire finish work folks, they want big jobs not little jobs.

    2. While the Kakistocracy rises and the dark orange hue envelops the nation, remember this, Mark Halperin needs to be back on TV, he just wants to say he is sorry!
